Where am I? 'The Martial World'

Chapter 3

After dinner, they all went back to their rooms. He easily found his way back. He is also trying to memorize every single doors, rooms and ways for he surely will be living there for a long time. When he arrived, he layed down and brought his arms below his head. His eyes were focused on the ceilings while on a deep thought.

That storm that took him on wherever he was. He still can't understand what had happened. But he's sure he'll be able to get back home. Not now, but soon. He exited from his thoughts and slept, wishing that everything will be back on normal tomorrow.

Kaihua, on the other hand, can't sleep so she decided to go outside the house and take a walk at their garden. It was so quiet as the cold breeze of air hits her. Lanterns were posted on the area to enlighten the vicinity.

She sat on a bench encircled with variety of flowers. This is their, together with her mother, favorite place. They would always sit here everyday and share their whole day with each other. That started from when she was just a child and ended when her mother died. Everything that time was so fast and unexpected. An arrow suddenly came rushing to her back and no one saw it. It was curable if it was just a simple arrow but it is poisoned. The poison spread in no time. The case was 12 years from now but still, no one can find the killer.

—flashback—

See these flowers?"Kaihua nodded." These were once worthless and ugly plants. No one treasures it. It was so short and very sensitive. Blows of wind can destroy it. But look at it now. Sturdy, grown up and beautiful. It's a treasure to be kept. "

"How did it grow?" asked Kaihua.

"Water my daughter. Droplets of water often drop at them. If it wasn't strong enough, it will be bent till it reach the ground and die. But if it's strong and knows how to swim with it, it will grow."

"Ah. That was amazing!"

"So promise me that even if tears were fallen from those eyes of you, swim with it. Do not let it bend you because it will be harder for you stood and see the skies. And when you are at the sky already, try to look down and thank the pot where you had been. Do not aim for the stars for it will only suffocate and burn you until no one recognize you. " Kaihua mother picked a flower and placed it on her ears." Someday, you will grow more beautiful. I love you Kai."

"I love you mother." then she smiled happily and hugged her mother.

Her tears flooded his face. Water was flowing like an open faucet. She cried silently. All she could do was to hide the pain she carries for her enemies to not have any advantage on her. She won't let this droplets bend him down.

The night was near in it's middle when her body ordered her to sleep. She took her path back to the main door and when she was near, a man in full black appeared from above. It's face was covered with black mask.

It was floating in the air while moving towards her just like a bird landing from above. It was smooth and slowly. But the time that the tip of it's toe reached the ground, the guards appeared from everywhere. This was so wise. The man was caught off guard that he have nothing to do as the guards draw their swords and bows.

The man has nowhere to run and that was what they assumed, but no. Black smoke coated thd whole place making the guards blinded. And when the smoke was gone, there was no sight of the man anymore.

"The lady!" shouted one of the guards as they head rushing to the lady. There was no sight of Kaihua. "Find her!"

Jonas was awaken by the noise coming from outside of his room. He immediately run outside to see what was happening. There he saw a man in full black and a full battalion of guards with their weapons drawn. It was a great but at the same time, a risky and dangerous scenery. What can he do? He's just a man whose job is to past some papers. But he knew he can do something after seeing Kaihua standing right in front of the door. He immediately pulled it and covered her mouth.

"Shhh!" When he's sure she won't create any sound, he let her mouth go.

He was surprised when she hugged him. It was like seeing someone who had gone somewhere far for a long time. "Thank you!" worded the lady.

"What happened? Who's that... man?" they watched as the man created a smoke that coated the whole place. The man disappeared with the smoke.

"Find the lady!" shouted one of the guard.

"I'm here!" Kai hua shouted. The guards was relieved hearing their lady's voice.
"A bandit."

"A bandit?" Jonas answered loudly as though he shouted. It wasn't his fault. He was suppose to be living in an urban place where bandits are long lost gone.

"And I must be their target."

"But why?"

"Politics. I already told you that my father is a general and that's reason why my life is always endangered. His opponents will do anything to bring him down. And they will start with his most precious treasure." Jonas was listening to her very careful. "Can we continue this with a tea?"

"Of course." They departed and headed to the dining room. Servants served the teapots and small cups. "So. You're saying?"

"Ah yes." and the storytelling started. They started when she was young and a man attempted to kidnap her and when her mother died.

It was a good yet emotional story, especially when her mother died. It also became an advantage to Jonas to know some of the cultures of where he was currently in has.

"I guess it's time to sleep and rest that swollen eyes of yours lady."

"Haha. Yeah. You must rest too. Thanks for listening."

"It's my honor."

"What's with your formality?" asked the lady for the sudden formality of Jonas's mouth.

"Is it too exaggerated?"

"No. It's fine but please, no formality between us. Go to your room now mister."

"Yes, lady."
