His Queen, Her King [Hiatus]

1 The Journey Begins

BEEP BEEP BEEP

Touko turns lazily in her bed and slams her hand on her Pokéball alarm clock. She slowly sits up and stretches her arms. Breathing out, she looks out her windows to see Pidoves perching on the trees and flying in the sky. Touko throws her feet over the side of her bed and stands. She looks down toward the end of her bed to see Tranquill perched on the foot of her bed. "Hey, Tranquill. Want to help me get ready?"

"Sure!" Tranquill lets out a call in response. He turns to grab clothing he knows Touko will like and lays it on the bed.

Touko smiles and makes her way to her bed.

Touko picks up the pair of ripped jean shorts, a white tank, and a blue jean vest. She grabs her a pair of long black socks and puts on her army boots. She walks to the bathroom and brushes her teeth then pulls her hair up into a pony. Walking out, Touko stands in front of the full body mirror and picks up a pink baseball cap and puts it on, adjusting it in the mirror. She holds out her arm and Tranquill lands on it, then shuts her bedroom door and starts to head down stairs.

Touko quickly scarfs down her breakfast only to be chastised by her mom to slowly down or she'll choke. Finally finishing her breakfast, she hears a knock on the door. Opening the door, Touko sees Cheren and Bianca, her childhood friends.

"Finally." Cheren mutters, "What's taking you so long?"

Touko gives him an apologetic look, "Sorry, had to eat first!" She starts to walk out and join her friends only to be stopped by her mother.

"Touko, wait!" Touko turns around at the sound of her mother's voice. "You almost forgot your bag!"

"Thanks, Mom!" Touko smiles and kisses her on the cheek only to have her mother pull her back once more.

"And try to look for your brother! That boy barely contacts home, and I'm just at my wits end!" Her mother says.

"Come on! I can't wait to get my Pokémon!" Bianca exclaims excitedly. She hops around in her shoes and tumbles a bit only for Cheren to catch her.

"Please be careful, Bianca." Cheren says and pushes up his glasses.

"Well then, let's go!" Touko says, she turns around and waves at her mom, "See you, Mom!"

As the three walk to Professor Juniper's lab, they talk on their way.

"Do you know which Pokémon you're going to choose?" Touko asks the two. Her hands were behind her back, and she was observing the scenery.

Bianca nods, "Yep! I decided on Tepig!" she says, looking at the other two for any signs of rejection.

Touko nods and turns to Cheren, "I was thinking of Snivy," he says and pushes up his glasses.

"I'm glad! Cause I want to choose Oshawott. That was easy, wasn't it?" Touko asks, getting a nod from Cheren and Bianca.

They stop talking when they arrive at Professor Juniper's lab. Touko steps up and opens the door. She steps in and looks around, Cheren and Bianca follow after her. "Professor!" Touko calls to try and locate her.

"Back here!" Touko hears. She leads the way past the multiple rooms until she comes upon Professor Juniper in the last one. The Professor has her brown hair in an updo. She's wearing her usually green skirt and white shirt with a white lab coat to complete it. "Welcome to the lab! Are you ready to start your journey?" Touko, Cheren and Bianca all nod. Professor Juniper smile at the three and move to the side to reveal the three Pokéballs behind her. "From left to right is Oshawott, Snivy, and Tepig. You can discuss to choose who will pick first."

Touko, Cheren and Bianca all look at each other then step up, each picking up the Pokéball in front of them. Touko smiles in happiness, she finally can start her journey.

"Since it seems you have chosen, I'll give you your Pokédex and some Pokéballs to start off with." Professor Juniper turns around and grabs the three Pokédexs and 15 Pokéballs behind her. "Go ahead and scan your Pokémon." The three thank her, taking the Pokédex and each grab 5 Pokéballs.

Touko smiles in excitement, she pockets her extra Pokéballs then calls, "Oshawott, come on out!" She points her Pokéball towards the ground in front of her. A red beam of light shoots out of the opened Pokéball and an Oshawott stands in its place. Touko bends down to Oshawott's level and smiles at the small Pokémon. "Hi, Oshawott. My names Touko Yamamoto and I'm starting my Pokémon journey. Will you join me?" she asks with her hands resting on her knees as she squats on the ground. Oshawott's eyes widen slightly. The human was asking for his permission! She didn't force him to go with her, she's asking. Oshawott turns to Touko and nods giving a fast reply of yes. "Okay, We'll be in each other's care!"

Touko pulls out her Pokédex and scans Oshawott. "Oshawott, the Sea Otter Pokémon. Oshawott fights using the scalchop on its stomach. In response to an attack, it retaliates immediately by slashing. The scalchop on its stomach is made from the same elements as claws. It detaches the scalchop for use as a blade." Touko smiles at Oshawott and opens her arms. Oshawott understood and jumps into her arms. Touko stands up and turns to see her other friends getting acquainted with their Pokémon. Touko takes out her Pokédex and scans Bianca's Tepig. " Tepig, the Fire Pig Pokémon. Tepig can deftly dodge its foe's attacks while shooting fireballs from its nose. It roasts berries before it eats them. It blows fire through its nose. When it catches a cold, the fire becomes pitch-black smoke instead." Touko nods and turns to Cheren and does the same thing to his Snivy, "Snivy, the Grass Snake Pokémon. Snivy is very intelligent and calm. Being exposed to lots of sunlight makes its movements swifter. They photosynthesize by bathing their tails in sunlight. When they are not feeling well, their tails droop."

"Well," Professor Juniper claps her hands to get their attention, scaring Bianca in the process. "Go have fun and start you Pokémon journey!" Professor Juniper exclaims, wanting to get rid of them quickly. She ushers the trio of teenagers out of the lab and shuts the door, leaving the trio standing in front of her door.

Cheren turns to Touko and looks at her, "Let's have a Pokémon battle," he demands.

Touko looks at Oshawott in her arms, "It's our first battle Oshawott. So will you battle with me?" Oshawott nods and gives his trainer a determined look.

Touko sets Oshawott down and Cheren's Snivy steps up. They've moved away from the house and are currently battling in an open area with Bianca as the judge. "This is a Pokémon battle between Touko the trainer and Cheren the challenger. It will end when one person's Pokémon is unable to continue. Begin!"

Touko immediately calls a move out, "Oshawott, tackle!" Oshawott nods and charges head first for Snivy.

"Snivy, dodge!" Cheren calls. Snivy swiftly avoids Oshawott causing the later to fall straight into dirt.

"It's ok, Oshawott. Shake it off." Oshawott nods then gets up. "Start running around Snivy!" Oshawott starts to run around Snivy, not giving the Pokémon a chance of escaping and causing it to become confused. "Now, use tackle one more time!" Oshawott breaks his circle and charges at Snivy, successfully landing a hit. Snivy falls back from the impact and faints. "Good job, Oshawott!" Oshawott turns to Touko and smiles. He jumps into Touko's arms, happy that he won.

"Touko won!" Proclaims Bianca, completely ending the fight.

"You did a good job, Snivy return." Cheren turns to Touko. "Good fight, thanks for battling me."

Touko smiles and nods, holding Oshawott in her arms.

After getting Snivy and Oshawott healed by Professor Juniper, the three of them start to head out. They all going their separate ways. Touko turns to get one last look at her hometown and read the sign one last time. "The Start of Something Big!"
