Peppered throughout the entire course were water stations and some of those offered banana halves, and I partook of both freely, knowing I needed them to keep going. We could see some of the others running either ahead of us or behind us, the different heats staggered throughout and the switchbacks of the trail disorienting all of us. Juli was amazed that she had done the jump and was jogging with me towards the last of the claustrophobia inducing obstacles. We found obstacle #11 Boa Constrictor : Crawl through a series of pipes that force you on a downhill into some freezing water, then a slippery uphill to the other side and it was pretty intimidating for some. These tunnels filled two thirds of the way with water before you reached the center and that seemed to scare many others. Like last time though, I didn’t hesitate and dove right in. This was where I scraped off half the skin of my knee though, and inadvertently shot down the tube like superman, the water and mud on my clothes making me all but fly down into the water below. Then I crawled through the center, under barbed wire, and started up the tube on the other side. I had no trouble making it though many others kept slipping and sliding in these tubes so I stayed to help haul some others up the incline.
