Best Friend or Boyfriend?

Chapter 1:

Amber's POV:

I wake up to another cloudy day in North Carolina and walk past my window and glance outside to my neighbors house, the Grier's and see Hayes's room is still lifeless and empty.

I haven't seen him for almost a year and I miss him so much. I wonder if he ever thinks about me?

I sigh and look at old pictures of us when we were little. I hung then up on my wall with Hayes before he left so I could look at it when I miss him.

And boy...do I miss him.

Anyway, today I am going shopping with my friend Camryn. It is almost the end of the school year and we are going to get some summer clothes and bikinis.

So, I grab my black and white tribal leggings and a white tank top and change in my bathroom.

Once I am dressed, I grab my gold iPhone 5s and text Camryn to tell her I will meet her at the entrance of the mall at 11, she replies with a simple "okay". I put on some makeup since there might be cute boys at the mall.

I put my straight long light brown hair in a messy bun and grab my purse.

I skip down the stairs and and ate a piece of toast and some orange juice and ran back upstairs to brush my teeth and put some lip gloss on.

Then my mom drove me to mall and dropped me off.

I found Camryn and we shopped for a while then we found a subway in the food court so, we stopped for lunch.

After we were done I got a call from Mrs. Grier asking if I could come over around 6 and babysit Skylynn for a little while.

I agreed to watch Skylynn and Camryn and I finished up our summer shopping and dragged our heavy bags outside to where Camryn's mom was waiting to drive us home.

When I got home, my mom left a note saying she wasn't going to be home until 11. I still had an hour before I had to go over to the Grier's. So I took a shower and sang as loud as I could.

Cause why not?

Once I got out of the shower I put on turquoise high waisted shorts and an off white little mermaid shirt and headed next door.

I knocked on the door and Mrs. Grier answered the door and Skylynn came running out of nowhere and clung onto my leg.

"Amberrrrrr!!!"she squealed.

"Hey Sky!"I laughed.

Mrs. Grier told me she'd be back by 9 and I assured her that everything will be under control.

She said goodbye to Skylynn and I and left.

Sky asked me if I wanted to watch a movie with her and I agreed. We watched Frozen and I dozed off until Skylynn laughed at Olaf.

Once the movie was over she was hungry so, I made us some mac and cheese for dinner.

When we were done she suggested we'd play hide and go seek and she hid.

When I was counting I was walking down the hallway with the Grier family photos and I saw one from when me and Hayes were 7.

I stood there and all my emotions poured out and I started crying. I missed my best friend so much that it hurt and I couldn't hold it in any longer.

I think Sky heard me crying cause I heard footsteps coming. I wasn't surprised that she heard me cause I was pretty loud.

Thank god I wore waterproof makeup!

I turned around ready to explain why I was crying to little Skylynn but when I turned around I started crying even harder than before.

There stood Hayes with flowers in his hands smiling at me.
