"Sau… Sauphia…"
The black haired immortal couldn't believe his eyes. He is seeing his dead childhood friend. Right in front of him.
A deafening silence fell over everything, as if time had been stopped by a spell. Only the wind dared blow, keeping the cliff from summoning an abstract being of sound. The two childhood friends are having their own doubts, with Xavoss thinking over approaching his friend or not, and Sauphia arguing against… something, or rather, someone else. All the while the remaining three are confused beyond words.
Xavoss decided to break the silence, approaching his cloaked friend and hugging her.
"Sauphia, I missed you…"
"Xavo--… no, you can't be him…" Sauphia said, pushing Xavoss away. "Xavoss is supposed to be dead now!"Xavoss was surprised. He knew that Sauphia had the ability to sense the soul of a person, and recognize them. Has he changed that much for her to not recognize him? Probably not.
"But, Sauphi--"
"No more words, human! You might look like him, but your…" Sauphia's voice wavered. "Your soul… No! You can't fool me!"Xavoss was confused, but when he saw Sauphia prepare an attack, he tried to dodge. Well, tried to. Sauphia was a bit too fast, and she slashed Xavoss diagonally across his torso, leaving a (supposedly) fatal wound. The attack also pushed Xavoss backwards, making him fall on his back.
"No!" Zaero yelled, then ran towards Xavoss. He stopped when he suddenly heard a pained cry from behind, and when he turned around, he saw Vennael sitting on the ground, clutching his bleeding chest. Yexiel helped him take off his vest, and when he unbuttond his shirt, the other two saw a wound the same as Xavoss'.
"What happened!?" Zaero asked, worried. He ran back to the two, his hopes of seeing Xavoss stand up again gone.
"I am Xavoss' reflection… any wounds inflicted on… him is also inflicted on me… ow…" Vennael explained with difficulty.
"But he died!" Yexiel said. "You should disappear if we follow that reasoning!"
"You know… he… he wouldn't want to tell you… or anyone in general, but… he didn't die…" Vennael said, which confused the two. "Wait, let… let me rephrase that… he doesn't die…"
The last sentence didn't help at all. Unseen by Yexiel and Zaero, Xavoss stood up (with difficulty).
"Sau… Sauphia… sigh… I know you wouldn't believe me…" Xavoss said. Vennael pointed to him. The other two boys looked, and to their surprise, they saw Xavoss standing again.
"An… an Immortal!?" The two exclaimed, which called Xavoss' attention.
"I… I… sigh… Yes, I am immortal." Xavoss said in a defeated tone.
It took some time before the truth hit Sauphia, but when it did, she fell on her knees and started crying loud, suddenly breaking down in front of the boys. Xavoss silently cast a reduced high level healing spell, and in a matter of seconds, the wound on his torso is gone, leaving only a faint scar. The same happened to Vennael. After this, Xavoss approached Sauphia who was still on the ground.
"Sauphia… stop crying now… I'm here…" Xavoss comforted his crying friend, hugging her again. Sauphia, in her emotionally distressed state, had been apologizing again and again, most directed to Xavoss.
"Xavoss… I… I… I'm sorry for this…! Yes, I admit that I caused all of this!… But it was my… my grudge towards humanity that… that pushed me forward… I'm really sorry…" Sauphia said between sobs. What seemed to be her violent personality was just her blinded anger, but the fact that her childhood friend saw what she had done had cracked it, showing a gentle personality within.
