"Awww, do I really have to do this?" The black haired twin muttered in dismay. Right now, he was being dragged to school, considering that this is the first day.
"Of course you do, just because you're immortal doesn't mean you won't socialize ever." The white haired twin scolded the other. "Also, we can't find any kind of work at home to kill time with, so why not study for the meantime? After all, the last time you entered a school was 300 years ago."
"But, Vennael…." The black haired twin complained, but "Vennael" didn't stop from walking, dragging his black haired twin along with him.
"Xavoss, I know that you know that I will go to the same school as you, and we are classmates. What else do you want?" Vennael said, stopping to turn to Xavoss, his twin.
"The fact that you are my reflection explains your behavior…." Xavoss said, sadly.
"Let's not dwell on the past anymore, alright?" Vennael said.
With that, the two walked towards the gate of their new school.
Truth be told, they know not a single soul in the place. They just moved here, after many years of living somewhere else, just like how their life is. Move to a certain place, stay there for some time, move somewhere else, flush and repeat. They never settled in a single place because the two are immortal, and being immortal has its own consequences, like being subjected to countless brutal experiments, condemened to death (which is pretty much impossible), banished for witchcraft, and many more. But, there is more to be found out about the twins.
"Sigh… I still can't believe I made that choice 550 years ago…." Xavoss sighed silently while the pair are walking, which Vennael unintentionally heard.
"That came from nowhere." Vennael said, turning his head to his twin. "Is something bothering you?"
"Nothing…" Xavoss replied, a little surprised that his twin heard him.
"Something is. I know you as much as I know myself, so don't hide it." Vennael placed his hands on his twin's shoulders, trying to comfort him, which failed.
"Nothing, really… just… contemplating on my past choice…" Xavoss murmured, which worried Vennael more.
"Well, if you didn't make that choice before, then everything will be different... worse, rather." Vennael said, which piqued the other's interest.
"How would that be?" Xavoss asked.
"I am your reflection, and us reflections are supposed to know the future of our owner. Before I was pulled out, your future was strange… the town will not banish you, but you will become an adventurer… you will find yourself in the same fountain of life you drowned in, and will not be able to bear its consequence… everything past that is blurry… maybe you have gone insane, who knows? And to top it off, you made a choice that practically changed your future… or was it him? Anyway, we are at the present now. It is best if we adopt to others to maintain our sanity… let's just help each other, okay?" Vennael explained.
Despite hearing this kind of encouragement many times beforehand, Xavoss still felt relieved. Especially because of the fact that he has someone that understands him and his situation completely.
The twins continued their walking once more, reaching the gate of the school they are going to study in. Located at Burce, it is the closest one to their home at Tuhar, which is a good 30-minute ride by car away. At first glance, the building coated in blue seems to be a place fit only for the rich, but the absence of a tuition fee defies all noble images about the school. In fact, it is the first school in the entire world to charge no tuition. But, because of that, not many people enrolled their children, believing that the school will not provide satisfactory education. As a result, the total number of students to study here this year is at 800 maximum.
