20. Fading Away

We are fading away,
yes we are
into office desks and rush hours,
into weekly reports and deadlines,
and into faces in picture frames
placed in unnoticeable corners.

This is the bad thing
when you already had
the best part of your life.
All the other days coming
would pale compare
to what we had shared
until we drift away and change
from memories to emptiness
from the story pages to flyleafs
from friends to strangers.

Let us condemn this emptiness
for we barely know each other now
it seems time really heals everything
and even memories disintegrate
if we let it be
until only familiarity remains.

Before we know it
we are already lost
and that‘s the time we only just
begin searching again
to where we feel we belong.

But it will be too late
and there is nothing we could really do
but stare at our faces
in picture frames
placed in unnoticeable corners.
