After two sets and a break, I was ready to end the night. The teens were now frazzled and horny. You could smell the hormones in the air. They were gyrating and kissing on the dance floor. I spoke into the microphone with one headphone on my ear. “Ladies and gentlemen, please stop the dry humping for one moment,” they all laughed and raised their glasses at me, “now, we are about to wrap it up for the night, but first, who will be our brave soul and sing a little karaoke for us tonight!?” I yelled and everyone cheered. “Alright, alright, alright, hands up if you want to be our special comet for the night.”

Immediately hands shot up. Before I could chose, a girl from the crowd pushed onto the stage. Some people booed and others cheered and clapped. She walked up to the mic and tapped it. “Prepare to be blown away.” She said putting up the number seven on her fingers to signal what song I should play. I pushed the number on my laptop and the music started to play.

You’re insecure, don’t know what for

You’re turning heads when you walk through the door

Don’t need makeup to cover up; being the way that you are is eno-o-ugh

Everyone else in the room can see it

Everyone else but you

Baby you light up my world like nobody else the way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed the way you smile at the ground it ain’t hard to tell you don’t know

You don’t know you’re beautiful

If only you saw what I can see you’ll understand why I want you so desperately

Right now I’m looking at you and I can’t believe you don’t kno-o-ow you’re don’t know you’re beautiful oh oh

But that’s what makes you beautiful

So c-come on you got it wrong

To prove I’m right I put it in a so-o-ong

I don’t know why you’re being shy and turn away when I look into your eyes

Everyone else in the room can see it everyone else but you

Baby you light up my world like nobody else the way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed the way you smile at the ground it ain’t hard to tell you don’t know

You don’t know you’re beautiful

If only you saw what I can see you’ll understand why I want you so desperately

Right now I’m looking at you and I can’t believe you don’t kno-o-ow you’re don’t know you’re beautiful oh oh

But that’s what makes you beautiful

Baby you light up my world like nobody else the way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed the way you smile at the ground it ain’t hard to tell you don’t know

You don’t know you’re beautiful

Baby you light up my world like nobody else

The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed

But when you smile at the ground it ain’t hard to tell you don’t know

You don’t know you’re beautiful

If only you saw what I can see you’ll understand why I want you so desperately

Right now I’m looking at you and I can’t believe you don’t kno-o-ow you’re don’t know you’re beautiful oh oh

But that’s what makes you beautiful

When the song ended everyone was screaming, clapping, and cheering. The girl bowed her head and laughed. “Directioner for life biatch!” I laughed and asked for her name. “I’m Alecea, and I know I’m awesome!” There was a round of applause and then she hopped off the stage. “Okay everyone we are going to close out the night with a slow tune, thank you for joining us at Starlight and for seeing out rare comet,” I motioned towards Alecea who was beaming and chatting with two girls.

“Please, be safe and have a good night.” I let the last song play and then when everyone was cleared to the first floor again I collapsed onto the ground. “Long night huh?” Alecea said. I laughed and nodded. “Yeah, I barely had a break.” She sat down next to me and we looked up at the stars. I felt comfortable with her which was odd. I watched the twinkling of the stars and felt at peace. That was until I was rudely interrupted by Derrick. He blocked my view of the stars and I scowled at him.

“Get up unless you want to be swept away with the trash, you too Alecea,” he poked us both with his boot and we grumbled and swatted his foot away. “I said get up you bums!” He said poking us again. I sighed and heaved myself and Alecea onto our feet. He gave us a triumphant smirk and we both stuck our tongues out at him and we laughed when he walked away. I went back behind my booth and jumped when Alecea talked from behind me. “This is so cool,” she said pushing buttons on my equipment, “hey, hey, hey, no touchie.” I warned her with a stern finger. She put her hands up defensively.

“Okay fine, calm your vagina down.” I chuckled and closed down the booth and locked the door behind me. “So what is your name?” She asked. “Rickey.” I said curtly. “Wow, nice name, so you want to go get some Starbucks?” She asked following me through the curtains to the second floor. I looked at her. Why would she want to go get Starbucks with me? “I could really go for some coffee.” I looked at my watch. “It’s twelve in the morning.”She nodded frantically! “I know insane right, I haven’t had a cup of coffee in four hours, and I think I’m going through withdrawal!” I laughed when she wiped fake sweat from her brow.

We had reached the first floor through her rant and teens were still filing out of the building. I needed to go to my locker and get my phone and keys. “How ‘bout that Starbucks?” She asks with raised eyebrows. “Wait here.” I told her and went and got my phone and keys. What am I doing? I asked myself. I don’t even know her but I’m going to let her get in my car and go to Starbucks? I sighed, take the mile. She was waiting for me when I got back and we walked to my car. She ogled it and told me how awesome it was. “Thanks.” I said climbing into the car. I turned on the engine and patted the dash board. I had noticed that Alecea still hadn’t gotten into the car.

“It won’t bite you know.” I said laughing when she blushed and got into the car. I turned on the radio and stopped when One Direction came on. We were both shouting the lyrics and laughing when we pulled up to the Starbucks. We went into the drive thru and ordered drinks, guess what hers was. “This coffee is so good!” She said tipping the cup back. I wasn’t even close to being done with my frappe but she had already had two cups of coffee. She was about to go back in when I grabbed her arm and reached over to shut the door. “You are cut off.” She glared at me. “Fine, but you owe me a cup!” I nodded.

“Deal, now can I take you home?” I asked. She nodded her head and gave me her address. She didn’t live far from me. “You are only about three blocks away,” I told her when we pulled up to her house. “You stay in the Merriweather apartments?” She asked with wide eyes. I nodded and smiled. “Wow, where did you get the money to rent out a place like that? You can’t be more than 19” I shrugged and told her stocks. “Well I’ll see you later.” She climbed out of the car and looked through the window. “I can tell you aren’t really the people person so, consider me your new best friend.” She said walking away. How did that make any sense?

-- Short, yeah I know. Pic of Alecea to the side.
