Walking back in I saw the same hostess glare at me. When she saw Patrick she smiled sweetly at him and twirled a lock of dirty blonde hair. So she is one of those girls. Can’t get one guy just go after another. I pulled the still slightly sobbing Patrick closer to me and held his hand tighter. Patrick didn’t notice her and she pouted. How mature of her. When we got back to our booth we saw Alecea and Kaden making out. Patrick cringed at them. “Too much hetero affection!” He yelled making them fly apart to opposite sides of the booth. I cracked up when Kaden fell flat on his butt and Alecea hit her head from moving so fast. Alecea glared at me and they were both blushing.
“We are going to head out guys, I’ll text you later Alecea.” I said putting money down to pay for our coffee. “Wait! Don’t you need a ride?” Kaden asked straightening his shirt and dusting off his pants. “No it’s okay I got this, I will see you guys later.” They waved by and we walked out getting another glare from the hostess. Seriously she has issues. “Rick? How are we going to get to my place?” I took out my phone and dialed Thomas. “Hey T, can you come pick me and my friend up from McKenzie’s?” Thomas happily agreed. “My friend Thomas will come and get us.” I told Patrick and hugged him again.
“I’m sorry Rickeesha.” I cringed at my first name. It was just too ghetto. “For what Patty?” He looked down and shoved his hands in his pockets. “For not being there for you when it all happened.” I shrugged my shoulders. “That means a lot but the past is past and we can only move forward.” We both sat on the curb and leaned against each other in silence. A couple minutes later Thomas arrived… in a limo. “Thomas, you didn’t have to get the limo!” I exclaimed shaking my head. He shrugged sheepishly. “You never did tell me the occasion.” That was true.
I shrugged it off and motioned for a wide eyed Patrick to get in the opened door. “I’ve never been in a limo before Rickey.” He said blushing. I laughed softly. “Me neither Patty, just get in.” We climbed in and thanked Thomas.
“You have so much money that you have a personal driver? Your only 19.” Patrick said running his fingers over the leather seat. “I have a job at a big catering company, a job at a club, and I dabble in the stock market.” Hehehe dabble. Patrick giggled. “Dabble, funny word.” We both laughed and he moved closer to me. “So you’re loaded then?” I shrugged. “More or less.”
He sighed. “That is awesome. It must be fun having a lot of money to spend.” Laughing at his dreaminess I shook my head. “You know Patty, I thought once I had left my foster parents and got money my life would finally be worth something. But now even when I have money even at this age, it’s still the same. I may be worth a good stack of cash but I’m still alone. Money isn’t everything and it didn’t take long for me to realize that once I had it at my disposal.” Patrick looked deep in thought after that and I left him to it. A few minutes later Thomas signaled we were at my place. When he opened the door for us I got out and then Patrick.
“Oh and by the way Patrick, I’m not her personal driver I just love her that much.” He said and I laughed and said thank you again. We headed into the lobby and to the elevators. “I can’t believe you live in the Merriweather apartments! This place his hella expensive.” In the elevator up to my door I immediately got nervous. This will be the first time anyone besides Thomas has been in my house. What if he doesn’t like it? Will he leave? Will he make fun of it? No of course not, this is sweet little Patrick here. Still I was nervous. I mean I have been a loner for the past 2 years how else am I supposed to feel?
The elevator dinged and I led Patrick down the hall to my door. My hands were shaking extremely hard and I tried to hide it. He grabbed the key from my hand and put it in the lock and smiled kindly at me. I could tell he knew it wasn’t just my nervousness that had my hands shaking but like any good friend he left it alone for me to tell him. I was so grateful to have him back in my life.
I turned the lock and pushed the door open to be greeted by a rush of cold air. Patrick shivered and hugged himself. “Wow, this place is absolutely amazing but cold.” I laughed unaffected by the cold. I went to turn the heat up and saw him looking at cellist. “Is this Rayce? Wow he was always my favorite from day one!” I stared amazed. “You watch FaceOff too!?” He nodded excitedly.
“FaceOff is the bidness!” We laughed and I showed him around the place. There were three bedrooms, three bathrooms, the kitchen, laundry room, and more. I showed him every room and even my secret candy stashes all around the house. He laughed when I showed him my wizard costume. After going into each room and playing wizards he sat down on my bed tiredly.
“Wow this place is big.” I nodded and sat next to him. “I can’t believe you live here alone. Does it get lonely?” I laid back and stared at the ceiling. “Not lonely, I do wish for someone to talk to though.” He laid next to me. “I am glad that we are back together again Rickey. I missed you a lot you know.” I smiled happily at him and kissed his cheek. “I missed you too Patty.” Who knows how long we laid there just enjoying each others’ presence. I knew one thing, he would always be one of my best friends.
