When the sun rises, the ocean seems to glow. The clear water lies still against the warm sand, a mirror, reflecting vivid and vibrant hues of pinks and oranges, as the sun pays its respects to its fellow element.
As the colours of our world begin to form, a certain magic erupts from its depths. Fish and sea creatures of all kinds flock to the surface as the wind cascades a salute to the sea. Waves, big and small, sprint across the watery surface, all so appreciative while dolphins chatter and sharks slither.
The luscious green grass and heavenly earth beneath welcomes its fellow component of nature, as waves cascade upon them and the weeds and plants hydrate themselves. Flowers bloom, the sun showing all its power, the sea a calming reassurance of peace and tranquillity, as all elements come together in harmony.
Not even a fish could forget such a view, as mammals jump into the vast sea, eager for a good wash, and the trees hum and sway to the music of Mother Nature.
Two young boys walk along the sand, the deserted beach only occupied by them. The clear mirror of the ocean was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen. It was the element that binded all together. The smaller boy ran into the sea, the waves greeting him as he laughed and beckoned his older brother. The latter, however, did not respond, and shrugged.
The water retreated, as the smaller boy felt a pang of confusion.
Years later, the fish forgot the canvas the ocean painted. The once deserted beach was packed, full of humans with no morality or care. No kindness, as everyone kept to themselves.
Plastic bottles were thrown into the ocean, bottles of wine and champagne followed, while young teenagers danced and danced.
Large bags of plastic and filth were deposited filled with straws, bags and cutlery - no one bothering to travel the extra mile towards the landfill.
The fish receded, never coming up to the surface, as creatures lost family to the waste. Oceanic creatures reflected the same desensitised manner as humans, mirrored them in fact.
The ocean was not a mirror of colours, but of despair.
The sun stopped paying its respects. Large grey clouds filled the sky with dullness.
The wind receded back to its territory, the musky, damp air causing animals to collapse. It's salutations were almost inaudible.
The earth could not be seen, not even sensed by the other elements as it's exterior was clogged with debris.
Lastly, the ocean was awash with waste. The once clear reflection was now a dirty, filthy mirror of what there is - not what there used to be.
The ocean cried for help, it's waves nonexistent without the wind, it's reflection invalid without the sun, its purpose made extinct with no life or earth. However, the elements stayed put.
The ocean learned to stay put too.
All was quiet. All was dull.
All was peaceful, yet the peace was null.
