It's been a week and a half and Bakugo's mood hadn't changed a single bit. In fact, it was getting worse. It was getting harder to hide but like always, he drowned out the feeling with work. Since this slump he was in started, he was taking longer shifts and snatched up any extra hours he could. It wasn't like him to want to work all the time at his own free-will but he felt the need to now. Work was his only escape.
Bakugo sat across from Kirishima wondering what it was that was getting him down.
Is it my shitty hair? Is it Shitty Hair himself? It can't be. If anything he tries to make me feel better. Is it the job? I mean sure all I do is work long ass hours, but half the time I just dick around. It's mostly patrolling so how the fuck would that put me in a bad mood. Is it the house? No. It's how it's always been. I have my stuff and the idiot has his stuff and we split everything down the middle except our candy because we didn't have the same taste. I don't live alone right now. I wasn't really alone... but why do I feel lonely? This doesn't make any sense.
"Hello? Earth to Bakugo? Bro, don't make me use the K name..." a husky voice that could calm the strongest of storms rang in his ear as he slowly came to his senses.
"Oh, sorry what?" He responded and looked up to see the waitress impatiently waiting to take his order.
"Look. Should I just come back later or something? I have other customers that need waiting on and I don't have all day to just stand here" she said with an attitude that would for sure ignite an insult in the hot-headed hero. Kirishima braced for the worst when all he heard was...
"My apologies. I'll just have some hot tea if you have any. English breakfast tea. With two sticks of cinnamon." She writes his order down, turns on her heels, and walks towards to counter. He would look up occasionally and every time she did the same thing, her expression softened. Kirishima noticed, but his companion was oblivious. Kirishima cleared his throat and proceeded.
"She was kind of flirting with you. Did you not notice?"
"She was? I guess I wasn't really paying attention. But now that you mention it, she is the one who always waits on us and gives me attitude" he looked up from his napkin to see her quickly looking away and blushing. At that moment he realized maybe that was it. He was starting to feel kind of lonely.
The waitress brought their drinks and the usual assortment of cookies and bread that the two of them seemed to forget to order every time. As she did so, Bakugo started to think. Kirishima had a girlfriend and would occasionally go out on dates with her. At least that's what he assumed. He came home late every Friday night, except for when they made plans together, so putting two and two together, Bakugo asked his urning question.
"Oi. Why haven't I met your stupid girlfriend? You two have been together for a while now and I think I should finally meet her dumb ass." Kirishima was in the middle of drinking his juice when he choked and looked him dead in the eyes. He was shocked at Bakugo's sudden interest in his love life but cringed at the thought of a certain someone and him dating. Don't get him wrong, you were a wonderful human being just more of a sister type and not lover type.
"Well fuck, tell me how you really feel."
"I mean what else am I supposed to think? You think I haven't fucking noticed that you're always late coming home on Fridays. Or that you smile, always smile, down at your phone as soon as you get home on those late nights? Like damn. Who is she? If she makes you so goddamn happy why haven't I met her?"
"Dude. Calm the fuck down." Bakugo followed Kirishima's eyes and noticed that the warm tea was now boiling, drops of it flying over the rim of the cup. Wide-eyed, Bakugo released the cup and wiped his hand on the cloth that draped the table.
