Your Move

It had been more than a few days since Kirishima had reached out to you. Sure, he was busy. Sure he was a hero. But something did not line up. And it was the fact that it had been maybe two weeks since you've heard from him. Friday was creeping up and you wanted to let him know that you guys got some new spicy candy, but didn't want to disrupt any hero work he could be doing. So rather than throwing yourself a pity party, you decided to reorganize the candy first. As you were meticulously restocking candy, the burning scent of cinnamon made you want to scream.

You were one to get attached to things like books and mugs, but not people. Not strangers. Let alone heroes. You knew any work with a quirk was time-consuming, hero, or villain. So realistically, Kirishima was not going to get whoever this savior was to meet you in person no matter how much he tried. Because being a hero was already chaotic enough.

Thoughts like these kept popping up, and rather than letting them consume you on capitalism's time, you asked Yuri to switch spots with you. With sweet delight, she agreed. Book organization was never her favorite thing to do and since Hisato said he was fine with being cashier until closing, this left you with all the time you wanted.

Customers came in and out at a steady pace. It wasn't loud enough for your thoughts to be silenced but there was enough noise for you to keep a steady stream of consciousness. Evaluated and re-evaluated the situation. You came to terms with how the past two weeks went. All you could do now was move on. Without those ruby eyes.------------------------------------------------------------

"Bakubro. On All Might. I will leave you here. The shop closes at 10 and I don't want to be the last person there. Hurry the fuck up."

"You're the one who decided last minute to go get fucking candy from a shop that it roughly down the road at a time way past when I'm ready to not leave the fucking godamn house. So shut the fuck up and warm up my car, dumbass."

"You do not have to go with me. You can say no. I tell you this every single time."

"Bullshit. You came into my room, threw my fucking coat at me, and my keys. No 'hey are you up' or even flipping on the lights to ease into waking me up. You just threw a bunch of shit at me and walked away. How does that make any sense? It doesn't."

"Oh. I thought I said something. Guess I was just thinking it. Sorry."

"I-. Get the fuck out my face. I'll meet you out the door in two minutes. Lemme at least try to look better than this."

They were at it again. For the last two weeks, the two of them were non-stop at each other's throats. Mainly because of Kirishima's master plan. He teased Bakugo for being nervous about meeting the girl with brown eyes. The same girl that would be quick to put him in his place if he gave her this same attitude. It was bringing Kirishima so much joy, and that pissed Bakugo off the most.

Everything pissed Bakugo off. And everyone knew this. But being tormented like this for fun and games pissed him off the most. Especially since he was dying to meet this mystery girl since he saw her. Something about the way her eyes looked through him, shook him to his core. In more ways than one. The gaze she held wasn't filled with disgust, but it wasn't filled with joy when he showed up. She looked scared but ready to put up a fight. And a shift in lighting made them seem different. How, he couldn't figure out. But he wanted to, more than anything in this fucking world. Little did he know, he was about to take the next step before flying on his own.

It took little to no time for them to get to the shop that only Kirishima was fully aware of. Being that it was tiny you had to park in the garage that was a good three minutes away. Bakugo was a little confused but didn't think anything of it. When Kirishima drove in and parked the car, he looked at Bakugo.

"So it's just a short walk over in that direction. It's the only bookstore on that strip and you'll pass by a coffee shop before you get to it. Don't worry there are lights so you aren't walking into the unknown. Make sure you get the gummy fruit snacks I like and whatever you want. Here's the snack card. Have fun. I'll keep the car warm."

"Bitch, what?" Bakugo was confused. Very, very confused.

"Dude, go get the stuff. You have fifteen minutes and they will start closing if there are no people. You'll see it on the sign by the door." Kirishima knew if she saw him first, she'd probably clam up and say something to get out of the situation. Then he would have to worry about Bakugo's wrath. He wouldn't hear the end of putting her in another shitty situation because of him. He would for sure hate him for a week and not trust him for a lifetime. Bakugo may be a brut, but he was a gentleman under that tough exterior. Kirishima was looking for a chaotic good, and sending them into this next meet with him as a mutual would end in a chaotic negative. And he wasn't having that. Therefore the next best thing was to send the man in by himself, with no knowledge so he can talk to her. At least until Kirishima got another bright idea.

"Fine. Whatever."

He angrily unclipped his seatbelt and followed Kirishima's stupid directions. In a general direction, he saw what he was going to assume was the cafe before the only bookstore. It was cozy looking, the cafe. Not very full of people, open 22/7 for some odd reason. A perfect place to relax and let go of the outside. Bakugo kept that in mind, tucked away in a soft memory box.

"Where the fuck is that-oh." He had reached his final destination, at least from the car. There it was. A hole in the wall bookstore that closed at 10 tonight. Luckily it was only 9:45.

----------------------------------------------------------------

All while Bakugo was hopefully swimming with the big sharks and not being eaten by them, Kirishima turned the car off and pondered for a bit. He hoped that this would change everything for Bakugo. He hoped that getting some kind of closure about how Cat was would bring him peace. But more importantly, he hoped that seeing her again would spark something in him that no one else could ever: a fucking vibe check. Maybe this plan will show him that there's more to life and being a hero than what he was currently doing. Cause boy was he missing out.

"Tonight is the night though. Bakugo is going to see Cat. She's gonna see him. They are going to interact and maybe one of them will have the guts to keep this up. I just hope I didn't scam myself."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

It was 15 minutes till closing. The books were as organized as they could get tonight, given that you just spent roughly two hours in a single section for no reason. Yuri and Hisato were relieved of their duties so you took over cashiering. They were already on their way out the door when you noticed the bell hadn't sounded. But you did hear footsteps. You looked up and saw that someone in rather expensive looking pants and a beautiful navy coat walked in. Their maroon beanie complimented the coat nicely but the sigh you let out was because you thought you'd be leaving earlier than closing time.

Still looking aimlessly at the computer time that now read 9:47 when you greeted them.

"Hello, welcome in. If you need help finding anything, my name is Erina. We are closing soon but no rush."

All of a sudden, the footsteps stopped. You paid no attention given that there were small shelves of candy right by the door but listened attentively when they started again. This time they were a little messier, almost shocked. You heard a rustle of several bags of candy and the soft friction of a hand going into a pocket. All the candy was placed on the shelf when you started to scan each one. Two, three, four bags of all different kinds made you think of Kirishima. You reached for what you thought was the next bag but felt the texture change. It was the maroon beanie.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I thought it was a plush or something." You said to the customer with a small laugh. You heard them gasp and finally looked up to see not brown hair but ash blond, blushing cheeks, and sparkling red eyes.

"It's you."
