Conan knew Gavin didn't have anyone to spend Christmas with.

The man didn't like the holiday, and though he never said it the android knew it was because he was always lonely on Christmas Day. His half-brother, Elijah, was not one for holidays and stayed at his secluded home on the outskirts of Detroit. Even there he had Chloe to keep him company.

Gavin had no one. Well, except for one particular android.

The two had known each other for two years now, Gavin's often rude behavior now becoming affectionate and playful. Gavin was the man that caused Conan's deviation, the android having to prevent the man from shooting himself one night. Ever since that incident, Gavin's icy personality towards Conan melted.

And one day, they'd even fall for each other.

Conan sighed as he checked the time quickly, then calculating the time until their overtime shift was over. It was 10:23 PM on Christmas Day, they had been working all day while most other officers were home for the holiday. Gavin had complained about working on Christmas and usually Conan wouldn't mind staying for longer than usual. Tonight was an exception.

This would be the first Christmas they'd spend together as a couple. The last Christmas the previous year, well, saying they disliked each other would be an understatement. That wasn't the only reason Conan was anticipating going home though.

The android smiled to himself, holding a small carefully wrapped box in his hands beneath the desk. It looked like a trifle gift, light blue and silver wrapping paper around it. An additional bow was stuck on the top of it. It looked like nothing but his future, their future, depended on it.

And he was going to present it to Gavin tonight.

Of course, Gavin knew nothing about this gift. That would've ruined the surprise, and Conan didn't want that. He had actually purchased the gift earlier in the month, but waited until this very day to show the detective.

"What are you smiling about?"

Conan lifted his head to see Gavin watching him curiously. "Oh, nothing. I was simply thinking about how this would be the first Christmas we spend together, Detective."

Despite them being in a relationship now, Conan still called Gavin "detective". Old habits die hard. Occasionally he would refer to him by his first name, but that was usually in private.

Gavin scoffed. "Don't make it sound so sappy, tin can. It's just a dumb holiday."

"It's not foolish." Conan argued, but knew his attempt was fruitless.

"Give me one reason you should care about Christmas. You're an android, you shouldn't even bat one eye at the holiday."

"It's significant to me because we can celebrate it together. Last year's was.. memorable in the wrong way."

Gavin paused, adverting his gaze. Last year's was.. interesting. Conan had showed up at Gavin's door to simply wish him a merry Christmas, and Gavin had chucked a snowball directly into his eye. Hard enough that Conan had to go to the station and get the biocomponent repaired.

"Yeah," Gavin let out a huff, crossing his arms. "at least I had good aim."

"Detective, you could've dislocated my optical unit with how much force you put into that snowball."
