Thunder

The thunderstorm was coming. There were growling, ominous dark clouds gathering above, looming over everybody. There was a sudden downpour and through the rain drenched air came the first long low rumbles of thunder. The violent unforgiving wind raced through the streets and the clatter of loose roof tiles could be heard from above.

Gavin Reed was terrified. He always had a fear of thunderstorms, it had began ever since he was a child. His half-brother, Elijah Kamski, would've constantly teased him about it. That is, when his half-brother actually had the time and decency to pay attention to him. The detective sat on his couch, bringing his legs up and hugging them together.

Conan came out from the kitchen, holding a steaming mug of hot chocolate. He went over to Gavin, sitting down next to him and holding out the mug. Conan knew how afraid of storms the man was, he learned that hot chocolate always seemed to soothe him.

"Thanks, Conan.." The man took the cup gratefully, sipping its contents. Conan stood up and headed into the bedroom, grabbing a blanket and a pillow. The android came back, wrapping the blanket around Gavin's trembling form and placing the pillow next to him.

"You're welcome, Gavin." Ever since the two had formed an official romantic relationship, he stopped referring to Gavin as "detective" and instead used his real name. Conan had also forced Gavin to use actual manners by saying "please" and "thank you" if he ever wanted something. He basically trained a child.

Gavin jumped as the deafening rumbling noise came again, followed by a bright crack of branched lightning as it lit up the dark sky momentarily. The lights flickered. Conan wrapped his arms around Gavin, holding the smaller man's body tightly as he tried to calm him.

Gavin found this extremely embarrassing. While he did appreciate what Conan was doing for him, he felt so vulnerable and weak. His face was a deep hue of red as he got closer to Conan, drinking the hot chocolate steadily.

Another crack of lightning appeared, this time the lights flickering and going out completely, leaving them in a world of pitch black. The only source of light was Conan's LED. Gavin made a small whimpering noise, his face going even redder. God, he just fucking whimpered in front of Conan because of the dark. How manly was he?

"It's okay, Gavin." Conan mustered his most soothing voice. "I'm still here."

Gavin leaned forward to set the cup down on the coffee table, pressing into Conan's side. He hugged the blanket around him. Conan turned and leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss on Gavin's cheek.

This managed to calm Gavin down. He stopped trembling, Conan's arms wrapped around his body comforting. He enjoyed the warm embrace, leaning up to look at the android even though he couldn't even see him.

"Thanks, prick."

"I love you too."
