"I don't dance"
"Who cares, I want to and you just happen to be here."
Shey is bad at dancing, Aurora not so much. Note: I can't write romance nor can I write dance scenes so strap in I guess.

Shey had never been one for dancing. It was a foreign concept to her, but Aurora moved. She didn't even have to know the song, she just went for it. Shey envied it in a way, Aurora seemed to have such a grasp on the things she was good at, but Shey felt like she wasn't good at anything. Sure she was a lacrosse captain in high school but she'd never make the cut to play on the university's team. Shey watched as Aurora stretched in her makeshift dance studio, some song about making the most of the night was playing on the radio. Aurora noticed her friend's staring and smiled at her.
"How's it going?" She asked, working herself into a normal sitting position. "You look like you walked into a storm." Shey sighed at her friend's remark. Shey's hair was like an untamable beast, even if it was straight it acted like curly hair.
"Hairspray doesn't last that long y'know." Shey put a hand on her hip and looked down at her shorter friend. Aurora gave her a teasing smile.
"Ya but we're at home, can't you grab some more?" Shey let out a 'psh' at her friend's comment and threw her hair up into a ponytail so that it's weird levitation powers looked somewhat normal. "Or you could do that." Aurora remarked as she looked her friend up and down. The song on the radio switched and Aurora perked up. "I love this song! Come on Shey, dance with me." Shey barely had time to react as her friend grabbed her wrist and dragged her over to the clean area of the studio that was considered 'the dance floor'.
"I don't dance." Shey said. It wasn't really a challenge more of just a fact, one she hoped would get her out of dancing. Aurora chuckled and looked up at her friend.
"Who cares, I want to and you just happen to be here." She ignored Shey's groans and wrapped her arms around the other's waist. "You know how to slow dance right?"
"I don't know how to dance period." Aurora rolled her eyes and pulled Shey's arms around her neck.
"It's easy," Aurora lowered her voice as the vocals of the song began. "Just moved your feet like this."
Shey had never imagined slow dancing with anyone other than her ex boyfriend, Greyson, but here she was twirling around her best friend to Ed Sheeran. There was a soft buzz in her chest which was... weird. Was it a good or bad weird, Shey didn't know nor did she really care. She was more focused on keeping up with her dance partner than she was with contemplating weird dance thoughts.
When the song finished Shey felt her heart sink as the buzz slowly fading along with the music. Aurora looked content though, backing away from the other girl and going back over to the small radio on the floor.
"Fun right?" Aurora's question snapped Shey back into reality.
"Uh, yeah." She smiled at the girl with dyed hair. The remainder of sunlight shone through a small window and enveloped the two in golden light. Aurora put her hand up to block it out and turned her gaze away from her friend.
"Anyway, I still have some homework to finish up." Aurora turned off the radio and headed towards the door. "Turn the light off when you're done in here." She said before exiting the room.
Almost as if some spell had finally worn of, Shey finally gained control of her body again and let out a silent 'what the fuck'. It really had felt like she was under a spell when she had danced with Aurora, the light, the song, hell the whole scenario felt like it was plucked from a movie. But the strangest part was the familiar buzzing that returned to her chest as Shey recalled the events. Maybe she was dying, no that's not it. Shey stood there, so deep in thought she didn't even notice her other friend come in.
"Shey?" Shey nearly screamed at the boy in crutches.
"Jesus you scared me!"
"I walked in and stared at you for ten seconds waiting for you to notice my existence." He commented back. Shey flushed in embarrassment before Luke continued. "Why are you up here alone anyway?"
"Oh well, me and Aurora were dancing but she left and now I'm just kinda contemplating life." Luke turned his head at her response.
"What'cha thinking about?" He asked, shifting his weight onto one crutch. Shey thought for a moment, what was she thinking about really?
"Trying to understand emotions." She stated flatly, Luke let out an intrigued 'ooo' which made Shey blush again. "Nothing crazy you creep," She flicked the black haired boy on the nose who stuck out his tongue in response. "I'm just a little confused is all."
"Whatever you say." Luke mused. He shifted his weight again and began hobbling towards the door. "And stop just standing in here, it's hella creepy."
Shey left a few minutes after Luke and decided to forget about the whole thing and just go about her normal day. Everything was fine till she laid down to go to sleep. Once she was finally about to drift off the dance scene came back to mind and this time she figured out what it was. The same feeling that came whenever her partners did anything cute. The same feeling she got when she told a boy she liked him and he admitted to feeling the same way. The same feeling she got on dates or when she was cuddling. Well shit.
