-Present Time-

“How am I supposed to start this?

How about that everything you have been told about me it a lie?

 No, that’s not enough.

Maybe that a secret organisation has gone rouge and is trying to kill me- whatever the cost.

Yes- that’s it- perfect.”

I sigh slightly, thinking briefly about the last two years.

God it had gone so fast. It felt like yesterday it had started, the day my whole world fell apart.

I look into the webcam and smile slightly. “I can bet anything that right now they’re trying to make up some new story to post that I am mental deranged, and that everything I’m saying is some messed up lie and it’s all in my head.

I wish I could say that. It would probably be easier than having to deal with this.

It’s not like I wanted to see it. I didn’t choose to be there. I’d do anything to take it back, but I can’t. I wasn’t even going to say anything. But after everything I’ve seen, the world needs to know the truth.”

I pause again, trying to think of something to say.

It was going to be long and tough, but I guess it would be the only way of convincing people I am not what they say I am.

“For two years now you have been looking for me. For two years you have been unsuccessful. To be honest, I am slightly disappointed. You should be better than that, after all, I am only an eighteen year old girl.” I laugh; I didn’t feel like that at all. I felt a hundred years old. I had seen so much, been through so much.

They stripped away everything I had from my life, tearing it away, hunting me, and stalking me. “For the first part I was so alone: so scared. I never thought I would be able to get through something like that.” I pause, breathing heavily. “But somehow I did.”

I clicked my fingers impulsively and fiddled with my ring. “Sorry, I’m being so slow. I just don’t know what to say or where to start. So much I need to tell you.” I trailed off, the years flashing through my eyes.

The horror, the bloodshed, the everlasting fear that they’d catch up on me, realise my new trick.

“To start with, I guess, I should say after two years I am tired. I don’t feel like running anymore. Even though I could carry on, like you would catch me?” I laugh, thinking about how long I lasted, and how long they would think I would last.

“I will give you that though, me being so tired of running, in that way; you have beaten me. You’ve won.”

“Like right now, they will be trying to track me, try it, it won’t get you very far. Trust me.” I looked into the webcam. I look at the number of viewers I have- fifteen million.

Not enough, I think to myself, everyone needs to know this. I look up at Liam in front of me. He is typing on his laptop, his wispy brown hair falling gracefully onto his forehead. He sees me looking and glances up; he gives me a cheeky smile and nods briskly, then returned to his typing.

I had known Liam for about ten months now. He was the one that probably helped me get out of the black hole I span into. The one good thing that came out of this would be him. I suddenly snap back to the present and look back at the camera and smile briefly.

“Most of you must think I am still what I said I was: a monster: a killer. I must tell you now that I am not; anyone that knew me could back me up. I would never kill anyone,” I say. Liam looks up at me abruptly. “Back then,” I whisper, too quiet for the microphone on the computer to pick up.

Liam and I stare at each other for all time; sharing a connection that runs so deep, no one would ever understand. I return my focus to the world and rub my hands together. They were sweaty and clammy; I was nervous, I was risking a hell of a lot for this. If this didn’t work I could be back at square one.

Running again.

Somehow I needed to convince the world that they were the bad guys and I was the good guy. Somehow getting them to believe that I was the total opposite of what they thought I was.

“Right then,” I said looking right into the camera. “Background information,” I sigh, “My name is Olivia Johnson, and twenty months ago my life was changed forever. This is my story."
