I do not own Final Fantasy XIV, that belongs to Square Enix! Enjoy the story!

Final Fantasy.

The game series that helped push the change of Role Playing Games to what they are today. It is also what starts the story for a young girl.

At around the age of 6, Lyllyan Weiss was introduced to her first Final Fantasy game. Her father sat in his recliner, playing Final Fantasy VII. Usually her father would yell at her to just leave the room or to go play, but as many times as she came back, he finally caved and had her watch from the couch. Of course, this is one of the few times she had been interested in a game other than Pokemon or Legend of Zelda, in fact, he was happy she showed such interest.

Every moment was magical to the girl. She cherished Cloud Strife, the protagonist. She cried at the dark times, and she would sit and cheer the chocobo races as if they were real. She felt as though she was in another world.

Two years later down the road, her father got a hold of Final Fantasy VIII. At this time, Lyllyan and her siblings all watched her father play it. Squall was instantly Lyllyan's favorite character. He reminded her of Cloud, and she absolutely loved the GF Shiva. Her dad even named it after her and he always had it equipped to Squall.

Another game that felt like another world to her.

But happiness isn't permanent.

Things weren't working out with her parents. They argued everyday. Lyllyan ended up playing other games, she tried to enjoy Final Fantasy IX and X but they couldn't make her feel as the others did. Though her dad constantly yelling at her to leave him alone was also deteriorating the love of the games. Soon things got worse and the father left.

For years, Lyllyan couldn't even mention Final Fantasy. The fanfare was stuck in her mother's mind and it drove her nuts. Her mother hated video games, because it reminded her of Lyllyan's father, and made her blood boil.

Lyllyan, on the other hand, played Final Fantasy VII and VIII all the time, just with the headphones on. It was the one game she enjoyed playing that wasn't Pokemon or Legend of Zelda.

Things were rocky with her father. Her relationship was basically trashed. Her mother tried to make her father seem like the scum of the earth and did a good job too. The father had moved in with the older brother and his wife. He rather lived alone, but the older brother was adamant about living with them. Every so often, Lyllyan would visit with her siblings.

Lyllyan's life changed when she turned 15.

She was in high school, finished up her freshman year and her friends that she had made basically stayed with her for life. She had moved around but her friends stayed in contact, in fact, they were the reasons why she moved back.

Their names were Damian, Skylar, and Roselia. They were the reason for her to come back, but with that, she had to live with her dad until their mom could afford a house.

It was summer and a new trailer for Square Enix's new game for the Final Fantasy Franchise was released. She decided to take a look, thinking it wouldn't hurt to see the new game.

What she saw blew her mind.

The game was called Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

The graphics were up to par and the world just felt magical. The best part was that it wasn't even the entire world and she already felt like her 6 year old self again, maybe even more immersed.

When everyone was in awe, the rounds of Lyllyan's older brother and younger brother cheering, and her dad saying how he wanted to play this game, she spoke up.

"I want to play, too."

The room went quiet, as the guys looked at her. They were shocked. Most of the time, she usually ignored the games they played, but here she was wanting to play.

To test how serious she was, they had heard the game was coming out for the PC and the PS3, so they made her work around the house to save up money to play the game. All in the while, the father and the older brother had news about how they were picked to play beta.

Lyllyan finally got that PS3 and she even worked enough for when the game came out. Soon Beta started.

Her father and brother showcased the game. The character customization was immense, there was no two characters alike. But when they entered the world, that is when everything changed.

They felt like they had really entered a whole new world.

The beta only lasts a week and on the last, the older brother was being called into work. He decided to let one of his siblings have a go at it.

The younger brother wasn't interest. He wanted to wait until the game officially came out, and, so, Lyllyan was chosen to play, and play she did.

She caught up to her father's character. She got to fight Primals that were beast tribe Gods. They were what replace the Summons, but you had to fight them.

The day was fun, but the last hour drew near. So the people on the server she was on all stripped down to the undergarments and ran across the three cities of Eorzea.

The last hour approached and Lyllyan was having a conversation with her dad as their characters sat in the middle of the adventures guild in the city Gridania. It was one of the best conversation they had in a while. A long while.

Soon the last minutes came by, and the older brother came back watching the final moments.

Lyllyan and her father were crying, sad to say goodbye to the world they had just entered.

After the week was up, they had to wait about a month for the game to be released. Little did they know, they were in for a big surprise.
