the cold girls

A while ago I would cry when I got a small cut or would bleed after I got shot. I would cry out of pain. Now I cry out of joy. I cry out of smiling so hard my cheeks hurt. Austin decided he would stay with his friend drew. A boy of whom I've never met.

"He lives a little bit out of town so I won't be on the bus in the morning." Austin says and I nod.

"I guess I should get home. will you take me?" I ask him and he nods and we start the ride to my house.

When we pull up I see my mom standing at the front door. I know she sees me and I can see her angry face. I bit the inside of my cheek.

"ouuuu your in trouble." Austin says. I lean over the consuls and kiss his cheek.

"Shut up ill call you maybe." I say and he nods.

I get out of his truck and I walk up the driveway to my mother. she has on her large coat and a robe. she had her slippers on and I bite my cheek harder and I can feel the inside of my mouth flood with the metallic taste of blood. Another ray of sunshine. I spit in the white snow. the crimson looks out of place on the pure color.

"who was he?" my mother asked.

"Austin. he is my friend." I say

"how could you Chloe."

"Mom. I just want to be normal." I say and she nods

"I understand that Chloe. but we can't risk it. you can't see him ever again." she said

I nod my fake understanding to her command and then I walk inside. I have no intention to not see him anymore. I walk past my father who was on the phone and up the stairs. I go to my room and open my door and see Jasmin seating on my bed.

"hey." she said and I smile.

"how did you get in here." I ask and she points to the window.

"how did you know where I lived."

"intuition." she replied and pulls a file out of her bag.

I open the file and see its my school file. it had my full name, address, family phone number, my "adopted" mom and dad

"how did you get this." I say and she laughed.

"im a ninja." she said and we laugh.

We seat and talk for hours and then my mom calls me for dinner and I tell her to wait there. I walk down and look at them. they made me a fee cubes of meat on a bed of rice with gravy. I pick it up and the it to my room. I give her half of my plate. and we keep talking.

"so how did you die?" I ask her and she laughs.

"I killed myself. how about you" she asked as she kept eating.

"oh I had cancer." I say and she nods.

"so what caused this" she asked and I shrugged.

"where do you get your meat?" I ask and she bites her lip.

" From the grave yard. I try and pick the bodies with the least maggots." she said and shrugged.

"ok. well I had a weird dream.like last night right. some creepy old lady was looking down at me and she said"so you want to be alive. come find me"" she said

"OH MY GOD! I HAD A DREAM LIKE THAT TO!" I whisper yell. she grabs her bag as soon as I'm done talking.

she pulls out a sketch book and shows me a drawling. it was her. that woman. the old broad I saw in my dream. But how. I don't understand who she is. I take mother bite of food and I feel a chill go down my spin. somehow me and this girl seating infant of me are connected to that woman. my phone ringing pulls me out of my thoughts. I see Austin and I answer.

"hey Austin. you get to your friends house?" I ask.

"yeah I got here alright. what about you what happened with your mom?"

"she said. I was not aloud to date and that If she saw me hanging out with you she would be very upset."

"oh screw that I like you to much to not see you."

"awe Austin. you like me." I say and smile.

"of course I do dummy. hey ill call you back later me and drew are gonna play some video games." he said.

"okay ill see you tomorrow bye." I say then end the call.

Jasmin was looking at me with a large smile. I shake my head and laugh a little. I know nothing will ever happen until we get human again.

"ou Austin Stuart huh." she said and I role my eyes

"no not like that." I say and I start fidget

"well I can understand. I wouldn't want to eat him." she said.

"okay look you should go home and after School tomorrow meet me here and well go to the library and see what we can find okay." I say and she nods

"night zombabe." she said and I laugh.

"don't call me that I'm a cold baby and so are you."

she nods and smiles then out my window and home she goes. I take my dishes down stairs and clean up. my mom walked out and comes up to me.

"honey. I hope your not upset with me. I'm just trying to protect you." she said her long black hair pulled back. into a pony tail.

"no your fine mom I understand." I say and then walk back upstairs and put on my pajamas and hop in bed and fall into a blissful sleep.
