Sunday, November 20th, 1977.
The sunlight that flitted through the gap in the curtains was bleak, but it still woke Archer up from his slumber. He blinked wearily, already imagining the grey clouds dominating the skies. Given his luck recently, he thought this was fitting.
The events of yesterday came back to him in a rush—the double date, Sirius and Candice... he grimaced, squeezing his eyes shut. He didn't want to think about it, and desperately tried to put the memories in the back of his mind. He felt awfully drained, but there was another feeling there too—it was hopeful, reassuring. Dhruv finally knew the secret he had been harbouring for so long. And he loved him for it. The very thought made Archer want to cry happy tears.
Turning his head to look over at his best friend, Archer was surprised to see that Dhruv was already awake and sitting up in his bed. Archer mimicked him and sat up too, the bed creaking as he did so. A slight frown settled on his face as he noticed Dhruv's troubled expression.
"Shit, man. I'm a horrible friend," Dhruv said.
Archer shook his head automatically. "No, you're not."
"No, Archie, I am." Dhruv let out a regretful chuckle. "You like guys and I was so focused on trying to get you a girlfriend that I didn't stop and ask you what you wanted."
"It's fine, Dhruv. You didn't know," Archer said. He paused. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier."
It was Dhruv's turn to shake his head. "Archie, you don't need to be sorry. You and only you knew when you were ready." He sighed. "But I'm sorry for not creating a space where you felt comfortable to share that with me. I love you."
