I awoke to nothing but silence I look at my clock but the power is out. I go to pick up my cellphone but the power is out. I go to pick up my cellphone and it's dead. I get up to go shower and the water is off. I sigh in frustration and go into my parents room and they aren't there. I have a sinking fear that something is wrong.

I go over to their window to take a look outside and what I find is a true horror scene . There are scattered dead bodies  all the houses look abandoned. I knew some kind of unknown virus was making it's way around the world.

From what I heard the virus was causing people to vomit blood, have a high grade fever, and ultimately killing anyone who had it.

With shaking legs I make my way down the hall to our kitchen, living room, and dining room. It's quiet my parents aren't anywhere to be found.

I start to tremble and call out for my parents. I hear nothing not even birds chirping. I run to my room and close the door and get my suitcase I have to get somewhere safe.

I hold myself together and pack up some clothes, my blanket, and my pillow. Then I go to the kitchen and get as much food as I can fit in my suitcase. We kept a tent in our garage I make my way to the garage.

With shaking hands I open the door leading to the garage. I scream when I see them my parents laying in a pool of blood. I vomit at the sight of my parents.  I turn and run to our front door throw it open and make my way down the street. I had tears pooling in my eyes but I knew I had to find somewhere safe to go.

Everything and Everyone I know is gone. I can't begin to comprehend what had happened and how all of this happened.

I knew that there was some kind of safe zone in Washington D.C. maybe I could get there safely. With dread I ran back to my house to get in our car and drive as far as I could. All I knew is that somehow I could fix this and survive this nightmare.

I drove what seemed like 100 years but it was only four hours before my car ran out of gas. I thought about how far I still needed to get I lived in Florida after all. I tried to find another car but none of them had keys in them.
