II.
"Okay, so when we all got on the bus, we kinda sorta forgot that there was a girl coming too, so, uh, please excuse all the mess." Blake winced, eyeing the already disorganized bus as he stepped up after Leah.
"I'm sure it's not that bad... oh."
It was that bad. The bus had only pulled up half an hour ago, but somehow in that short time span, it had turned from spotless and clean to a complete and utter disaster. There were clothes everywhere, strewn all over the bunks and couches and even the tiny little kitchenette. Leah's eyes widened as she took in the sight, and then an audible sigh escaped from her mouth when she remembered she would be living on this bus too.
She was shaken out of her thoughts by Blake clearing his throat from beside her. Glancing up at him, she only realized then just how tall he was. He pretty much towered over her completely. I mean, it wasn't like Leah was exactly on the taller side for her age, but still.
Damn. She thought, then immediately felt heat rush to her cheeks. Wait, slow down here, L. You just met this guy.
"Well, at least now you know what you're getting yourself into. Leah, this is Reece and George, my bandmates and your, er, new roommates... I promise we're not ALL this messy. And by that I mean I'm not this messy."
"Oh shove it Blake, you're only saying that to impress her. We all know what our hotel rooms look like when you're trying to pick out an outfit." A voice spoke up from the opposite end of the bus, and the brunette girl made eye contact with a blonde boy sitting scrolling on his phone. Leah's eyes panned over to the couches on the far left of the bus where two other boys were sat with guitars in their laps. Wait, no, actually one of them had a guitar and the other one had a bass.
The one with the guitar had short blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. He put his phone down and stood up when he met Leah's gaze, walking over to introduce himself. "Hi, I'm George."
"Leah." She smiled, sucking her cheek between her teeth nervously. It was only really sinking in now that she would be living with a bunch of teenage boys, 24/7, for three straight months, in such close quarters. She just prayed they didn't spray cologne all over the place and make her choke on the recycled bus air like her older brother always did in their parents' car when she was growing up.
The other boy, who was clad in a Tommy Jeans sweater and blue jeans, put his bass down and followed George in standing up to greet her. "I'm Reece."
"Hi, I'm Leah. Wait, you probably already knew that since I just introduced myself like ten times. Okay, I'm going to stop rambling now." Her cheeks flamed up again. God damn it.
Luckily, none of the boys seemed to make fun of her. They all laughed, but it was more like they were laughing with her, not at her.
Leah crossed her arms over her chest nervously, not knowing what to say to further the conversation. Reaching to pick up her guitar case she'd dropped when she came in, she suddenly felt a hand on her lower back. Her head whipped around, startled, to see it was Blake. His eyes were elsewhere, thank God, because she had never looked so startled ever.
"Okay, since these two arseholes got here first, they took the two bunks on the left, so I guess that leaves us on the other side." Motioning to the built-in beds on the bus wall, Blake's other hand was still on the small of her back and it was making her lose focus on the words he was saying.
Leah looked at him, zoning out for a moment before quickly coming back to her senses. "Right, okay."
"After you, m'lady."
Blake let his hand drop back to his side so she could choose a bunk. She honestly didn't care, it wasn't like she knew which one was better since this was her first tour ever. Shrugging, she grabbed her bags and threw them onto the lower one.
"Works for me." Blake flopped onto the bunk above Leah's and she was reminded again of just how tall he really was. If she wanted to get onto it, she probably would have climbed up, but he could just jump right onto the bunk.
"Okay, goodnight everyone!"
"Reece, hun, it's like 8:30 A.M." George said from his bunk.
"And?"
"You're an idiot." A pillow flew from one side of the bus to the other, successfully clobbering Reece in the head. Leah could hear Blake laughing from above her.
Once everyone had settled down (apparently it was the earliest everyone had been up in quite some time), the four musicians settled into a comfortable silence. They soon left their bunks, after all they weren't really comfortable in the first place, and migrated to the couches. Leah pulled out her phone from her bag, the bright screen making her squint her eyes.
After she'd turned down the brightness, she unlocked her phone to see about twenty thousand texts from Marie. When she opened the app, she was greeted with a huge paragraph, or more like a whole entire essay, of text that Leah absolutely did not feel like reading in that moment, but she knew she had to or else her manager would totally freak.
Hey L, hope you've settled in okay by now. I'm in the bus behind you guys with Joe and the other crew members. I'm just checking in, making sure everything's going smoothly thus far. Wait, there was something I had forgotten to mention to you earlier. I know you're going to cringe when you read this but I have to tell you anyway...
When we signed you up to do this tour, I didn't know if you saw one of the teeny-tiny technicalities of the contract but decided to just assume you had because I know how thorough you are with that kind of stuff... but just in case you forgot like I did, or something...
One of the agreements we, or technically you, made was to not enter a public relationship with any one of your tour mates, including The Vamps boys and the New Hope Club boys. I know you just met them and everything, but it's something I think you should keep in mind - sorry to drop a bomb on you like that, girl.
See you in a couple hours!
