Chapter twelve: Why am I afraid?

Blake's POV:

I hate where Im staying. Finn is the top of my hit list now, he stuck me in the worst place for a cat Faunus.

A Kennel. A dog and cat kennel. I hate it, it was like making fun of me. At least I didnt have clean the kennels, I had to groom the animals. I mostly got dogs to groom, and everyone of those beast had bitten me. My hands were now covered with bandages, making it harder to groom the pets.

My boss was human, along with my coworkers. We all worked in a kennel that was just outside of Vale. It was a great hiding place for a run away Faunus like me, but also a bad choice. Curse dogs.....

"Ow!" I had pulled my hand away from a big dogs mouth. One coworker came next to me.

"Ah that sucks Blake. Every dog does this to you. Let me take over this one and you go to the office to get patched up."

"Thank you." I walked swiftly out of the groom shop and up the path to the main office. I slowly opened the door. My boss turned his head and gave me a soft smile.

"Again?" I nodded. "Come here." I walked around the counter and sat in a wooden chair. Boss had grabbed a few band aids and placed them on my wounds. "There all better." He smiled.

"Thank you," I said before leaving back down to the groom shop. I stopped looking out at the road. A car had parked and four figures stepped out. My heart stopped. "They can't be here....." I sighed. Ruby, Weiss, Yang, band Sun stood there looking up at the office. Sun was leading them up the path that I was still on. I darted into the woods making a long way back to the shop, still unseen. I breathed again once inside, out of their sights. Walking to a table, I picked up the broom and began to sweep in the back of the shop, cleaning before closing. Hoping it would hid me. The idea failed, the door had swung open, and heavy footsteps fell on the ground inside the shop. My coworker was done was walking out the door.

"Bye Blake! See ya tomorrow!" She waved as she got her bag. "hope them stupid mutts will stop bitin' you." The door closed, leaving a empty chill im the air. My ears twitched, they were still there. I gulped heavily and slid further behind a shelf of dog products. A few clicks of heels stepped across re the floor. Boots thudded along too, maying me close my eyes. I had no idea why I was afraid to see them. Maybe because Im just a scaredy cat, or I just ............ what do I need? Im hiding for nothing. Im only hiding from them because I dont want to get close, I dont want them to fail me like the others. Or treat me like a worthless animal.

The steps grew closer. I was starting to panic, my ears were flat against my head with the bow in folds. A hand had grabbed me and pulled me away from my dark hiding place. My face landed in something soft and warm. My eyes trailed up to see Yang, Ive landed my face in her chest. I straighten up and gave her and the others a emotionless face.

"Blakey! Why won't you tells us anything? You ran away to hid and ....... Blake your worrying us." Yangs voiced had dropped.

"Im ........ wanted by the White Fang."

"What?" Weiss exclaimed.

"They want me for some special reason, and I went into hiding." I paused. "I also wanted to protect all of you."

"Then whole would protect you?" Ruby asked. I shrugged.

"I don't matter. All I have done in this world is to cause problems." My eyes fell to the floor.

"Yes you do." Yang agreed.

"Yang!" Ruby called to her sister.

"Your not helping at all!" Weiss added.

"Let me finish." Yang sighed. "Yes Blake, you do cause a lot of problems. You cause more problems than Weiss-"

"Hey!"

"Weiss shut up and let Yang speak."

"Thanks Ruby." Yang turned her head back to look at me. "But Blake, you'll cause ten more problems if you leave the team. We would miss you like crazy. Ruby wouldnt have someone to copy notes off of, Weiss would yell at everything in the world because she couldn't argue with you, and I..... I wouldnt be my happy, joking self."

I was shocked at Yangs words. A lump start to form in my throat again. My eyes were filling with tears, I didnt know that I was a big part in their lives. I felt selfish.

"Shhhh, you can cry." Yang had rested my head in her shoulder. My forehead had laid in the curve of her shoulder and where her neck was. My tears fell landing on her. This was the second time I had cried on Yang. "Now Blakey lets get you home." Yang had picked me up, making me wrap my legs around her and my arms around her neck. I clung to her like a baby kola. Yang's fingers had combed through my hair, soothing me. I fell asleep in her arms.
