Nervously stepping out of her car, Hayley ran a hand through her recently cut-off hair. Her usual long, red hair was now the same length as her brother's - just three inches. Not only was it short, but it was also dyed brown. She figured she'd blend in easier that way.

Getting her stance ready the way she'd rehearsed it, Hayley casually held her folder down by her right thigh and dangled her free hand by her left side.

Hayley would usually be spotted in a school setting in either her two piece cheerleader set or something along the lines of a plaid skirt, pressed white shirt and little dainty ballet flats.

Today was different. Standing in the front car park of what was going to be her new temporary high school, Hayley was in black baggy Levi's, an over sized leather jacket, aviator sunglasses and a polo shirt she'd found in her father's closet.

Looking down at her feet, Hayley hoped that she wouldn't fall over in her brother's Dr Marten boots which were practically a million sizes too big. But hey, Hayley wanted to completely play this thing along, so she was going to risk the embarrassment.

Walking with a cocky bounce in her step as Jack had taught her, Hayley lifted her shoulders up and held her head high.

Hayley had also made sure not to wear makeup, trim her eyebrows or do her nails for this social experiment - which meant she was kinda hardcore determined.

Taking a deep breath in, Hayley figured she'd greet the first person she saw. She was pretty outgoing, so she had assumed she'd make some new friends fairly easily. What if she was wrong?

"Hey! How ya doin'?" Hayley spoke deeply, sticking her hand up for a high-five at a guy that was approaching her direction. The guy simply ignored her, in which she replied, "Yeah, let's talk later."

Internally face palming, Hayley realised that maybe things weren't going to be like how she was used to at her normal school.

As soon as Hayley arrived at her normal school, on an everyday basis, hundreds of her peers would greet her in some way. She wasn't used to being completely ignored by fellow teenagers.

Spotting two jocks standing by some bushes, Hayley thought that perhaps befriending a couple of the obviously popular looking kids would be a good idea. At least, she hoped.

"Dude, you need to be working out everyday. You know I do. Look how great I look!" Alex, one of the jocks, spoke to his friend. "Sure, not all of us have weights, I get that. Instead, try lifting some nerd instead... By their underwear! A good wedgie-pull is a good workout."

Hayley stopped and stood by the two jocks. She left about a metre between herself and the pair so she didn't seem too odd.

Letting out fake laughter, Hayley nodded at the guys with a smile. The two guys were taken aback, wondering who this random person was that had been eavesdropping.

"Fresh meat, just what we needed! Perfect example of lifting equipment" Alex continued, nudging his friend in the side. "Who invited this weakling?"

Hayley looked down at her appearance and body language, hoping she was still following her brother's instructions enough to pass as a 'strong' guy. Weakling, though? That was a little harsh, which Hayley wasn't used to.

"Strong as an ox and almost as smart" Hayley retaliated, giving a piece of her mind to the jock who had just made fun of her.

As Alex's friend made an 'oooh' sound as if to say his mate had been dissed, Alex himself wasn't taking a bar of it.

"Another handy workout for the biceps is the Weakling Throw" Alex wore a smug grin, walking closer to Hayley - who he'd assumed was a guy.

Picking up Hayley, Alex pushed her into the bushes behind him. He was the toughest guy in school, so this was an everyday thing for him. No one had ever even tried stopping him.
