Noah's POV

"Gio! Gio! Wake up!" I slowly open my eyes and take in the scene around me. There's smoke everywhere. I start coughing violently and suddenly I can feel myself being pulled up by a mysterious figure. My ears are ringing and my vision is blurry.

What's going on?

This is definitely not how I expected to wake up this morning.
I knew there was a reason I hated Mondays.

Suddenly my daze fades and I hear a voice.
"Giovanni, are you alright? We need to get to the safe house NOW."
There's only one person who calls me by my second name - my father.
I couldn't make out his next words but it sounded like he said 'this was an inside job'.

I was so confused. What was happening? Why was this happening?
Never in a million years would I have ever guessed that something like this would happen in MY house. A bomb. No, multiple bombs. Noticing the destruction around me, it's quite obvious that these bombs were intended to kill everyone in this house.

As we get to the back door, I see at least 15 black SUV's with armed men standing next to them, waiting for orders.
Everyone is dressed in a tailored black suit but even then it's still evident that my father is the Boss.

He stands to his full height of 6"8. His dark hair is perfectly pushed back. Besides his tall muscular figure, he has a dangerous look on his face. He nods his head once and everyone jumps into the cars, ready to leave.

The drive there is quiet and tense. No one dares to speak a word. I look behind and see the remains of the place I used to call my home. My haven.

We arrive at the driveway of the safe house in 15 minutes. As soon as we enter the house, I turn to my father and ask him,
"Who did this? No one would be stupid enough to break into OUR house."

My father walks away seemingly to avoid what he's about to say.
"Martinez."
One word. That's all my father needed to say.

I feel like the air around me suddenly became unbreathable.

"MARTINEZ!!! But he's like family"
My father looks away but I can still see the sorrow in his dark brown eyes.
With us, loyalty and family are everything. Martinez was my father's right-hand man. He trusted him with everything.
He broke my father's trust and my father looks ready to break him.

"Martinez has been working with the De Lucca's."
Talk about working with the devil himself. The De Lucca's are our rivals. They would stop at nothing to see us dead and take away everything my father has worked so hard for.

Suddenly all the eyes in the room are trained on me. My father takes slow, determined steps towards me and I can see by the look on his face that I won't have a choice in what he's about to say.

"Son, you are the only family I have left, and the heir to everything I have. I need you to do something for me."

I'm nervous for what he's about to ask me but I know that I won't be able to refuse. I know my responsibilities.
"Yes, father. Anything."

My father places his hand on my shoulder and says,

"You need to leave."
