Noah's POV
Airplanes.
I've always enjoyed traveling but under these circumstances, it doesn't seem that great.
No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get my father's words out of my head.
"You need to leave". It's crazy to think how one day can change so much.
One betrayal. The worst part of this whole thing is that Uncle Martinez may have started a battle by joining the De Lucca's but my father is about to start a war.
"Sorry sir, would you like something to drink?"
My train of thought is disturbed when one of the air hostesses approaches me. The minute my eyes focus on her she blushes and looks away."What?" I didn't intend for that to come out as abrupt as it did but that doesn't seem to deter her.
She reaches out to touch my hand but in that moment the pilot announced that we're about to land.Thank God for that because I'm not really in the mood for anything other than a nap.
As soon as we land, I exit the plane as quickly as I can while that air hostess tries to slip her number into my jacket pocket.
As I get outside of the private airport, I see one of my father's men waiting for me.
He nods his head at me as if to make sure I'm ready to leave. My current state of mind is not really interested in any pleasantries so I simply hop into the car and close my eyes.
Here goes.
Day 1.
Can this war just be over already? As we get closer to the city, I can't help but take in the spectacular view. I've never been to the Big Apple before but I can certainly see why there's so much hype about it.
The city that never sleeps.
Soon we arrive at a magnificent building. It comes as no surprise when we pull into the parking lot of that very same building.
I had no doubt that my father would spare no expense in his plans to destroy those who tried to destroy us.
We get to the elevator and make our way to the very top floor. The penthouse suite.
This building is larger than most, so there's two penthouse suites opposite one another. The manager of the hotel directs me to the one on the right.
As I walk in, I can't help but feel slightly less annoyed.. let's just say Al Capone would definitely approve of this suite. The entire lounge overlooks New York City. It has an open plan design that makes it look more spacious. Maybe the next few months wouldn't be that bad.
Of course they will be.
I was thousands of miles away from everything - my friends, my dad.
Everything.
Sometimes I think fate was cruel for giving me a life like this.
A life full of lies and illusions. And to think...
The games were just beginning. My mother was the only real thing in this web of lies that I now call my life.
My mother, I miss her. With that thought, I definitely need to get a drink.
I hop into the shower and get dressed. I make my way down and hear a group of people talking about a club a few blocks away. Perfect.
I walk to the club and enter. The club is crowded and dark with the only source of light being the flashing neon lights. They illuminate the people on the dance floor.
I make my way to the bar and order a glass of whiskey - neat.
"Hey hot stuff, wanna daaaance?" I cringe at the sound of her voice. I turn around to see a tall, pretty girl with short blonde hair. She's wearing a short black skirt with long heels that make her legs seem even longer than they are. She has a tight white crop top that accentuates her chest.
"No."
I turn around and finish my drink in one gulp. I pay the bartender and get up to leave. As I walk outside, the cold night air hits my face. I'm about to head back home when I spot a group of men surrounding a girl.
As I approach them, one of the men grabs the girl's wrist and I can see by the look on her face that she's in pain.
No man should ever lay his hands on a woman.
I step forward and pull the guys hand off her wrist. I step in front of her, to shield her from them.
The guy that was holding her says, "Who do you think you are?! You shouldn't have done that!"
He takes out a pocket knife.
How entertaining.I turn around and say to the girl, "Move back".
As I turn around the guy lunges at me with the knife. Before he can come any closer, my fist connects with his face and he falls to the ground clutching his jaw.
The rest of the guys lunge forward as well.. and before long, I'm the only one still standing.
It doesn't surprise me because I've been trained to fight since I knew how to walk.I turn around to see if the girl is okay.
It is only now that I notice her. The moonlight hits her face in such a way that it shows off her beautiful features. She has long dark hair that reaches her waist and ocean blue eyes that you could easily get lost in. She's wearing a dress that accentuates her hourglass figure.
Snapping out of my thoughts, I ask her, "Are you alright?"The delicate look she had on her face turns hard. She glares at me and says,
"I could have handled that myself!"
