You stared at her for a second, weirding out the others, and then said hi after snapping out of your thought. You hoped they all wouldn't bombard you with questions since you were new.

Ela: "so newbie, where you from?"

Shit.

You: "Boston, but I'm going to college in San Francisco..... well, I was anyway."

Twitch: "oooh, studying what?"

You: "Prosthetic engineering, I was drawing up a design for an exo suit before it got blown to shreds."

You seemed to have gotten her interest, but the others wanted more information.

Monika: "what's your gadget?"

You: "nothing yet, maybe a drone. I'll think of something though."

Dokkaebi: "wait, you're that guy? The from SF?"

You:" yep, that's why I'm here."

Dokkaebi: "Yeah... the dumbass that jumped on a grenade."

You scoffed and rolled your eyes. Ela snickered.

You:" okay you know what... 😒"

Dokkaebi:"Nah chill, props for not dying."

This got a laugh out of everyone. Hearing her laugh made your smile grow wider than it already was. You sat back in your chair, feeling a bit more relaxed.

 The way the corners of her mouth curved, her eyes nearly glistened. Your thoughts were interrupted by Monika asking some question.

Dokkaebi's eyes widened and she licked her lips. She whispered something to Emma and they both giggled.

Monika: "so, has echo asked you to watch anime with him yet?"

You:" no, not yet thank god"

Ela: "remember that one time?"

Dokkaebi:" OH SHIT YEAH!"

She giggled with that cute face of hers while you were plain confused.

Valkyrie: "we walked in on him beating to some hentai..."

You: "oh shit for real?"

Monika: "yep"

Dokkaebi: "eh, not the worst I've walked in on."

You: "mhm, Masaru told me about that Jordan guy and his girlfriend."

Dokkaebi: "oh no no no not that."

You raised an eyebrow

Ela leaned close and whispered

Ela:" his ex is here too."

You snickered.

Dokkaebi: "yeah the base parties get wild."

You: "sounds fun."

Dokkaebi:" Yeah, there's one in a few weeks."

You: "cool"

An awkward silence grew as you all ran out of things to talk about.

You:" Alright, I'm gonna go get a tour of the base, I'll see you guys."

Dokkaebi:" WAIT NO- I mean, I could give you a tour..."

You:" uh, alright."

You both got up, and you threw out your water bottle and she dumped her lunch with it. She walked in front of you, and what you didn't notice before was her incredibly tight leggings that were hidden under a light grey hoodie. She swayed her hips as she walked in front of you, almost begging you to look. 'Nah, I have some decency, right?' You were single and human, but you didn't look.
