Chapter 1.

"Naira? Naira where'd you go?" Paul's voice boomed throughout the house.

My heart started to beat hard in my chest.

I heard a thump. The sound of broken glass rang in my ears. I was sure that he was drunk again.

"Bitch!! Where are you!" He roared as I heard him slamming doors open.

You fight back today. You fight back today.

I kept telling myself as I heard his footsteps getting closer to my room.

The door swung open and I nearly jumped out of my skin.Paul stood in the door way breathing hard and sweating. His normally ash brown hair stuck to his forehead as if he'd just come from the gym. The smell of booze and perfume radiated from him.

Our eyes met and I froze. The look of disgust and anguish poured from his.

His nostrils flared, " You were in here the whole time but didn't answer me?"

I swallowed and began to tremble, " I-I didn't hear you."

His jaw clenched and like lightning he was over to me and had struck me across the face.

Instant burning pain soared throughout my jaw.

" How dare you lie to me!" He pulled me by my hair so that our faces were inches apart.

"I was-I was scar-" He gripped my face with his other hand, squeezing tighter and tighter.

I winced in pain and felt a tear roll down my face.

"You were what? Scared? Well you should be."

He threw me onto the floor making me fall on my wrist in an awkward position.

I wailed out as I felt something pop. I tried to get up to get onto the bed but his foot connecting with the side of my ribs knocked the wind out of my chest. I doubled over onto the ground trying to catch my breath.

"All of you swear UP and down that you're strong...tough..'independent women," He mocked and laughed "Then I get a hold of you and this is what you become," He motioned to me "Nothing..A worthless piece of nothing"

"Pl..ease..." I managed to get out as a wheezing breath.

"That's right, beg bitch," He spat at me," Beg while you're on the ground where you deserve to be." I heard the clanking of metal and felt his presence hovering above me.

My vision started to blur.

I felt hands cupping my behind and started to cry harder.

God knew I didn't want this.Nobody would.

My mind began racing fast as I realized what was about to happen to me.

Paul was gonna rape me.

I couldn't let him do this to me.

Trying to focus on what was around me on the ground I spotted a broken piece of wood from my dresser that had fallen on the floor between my bed and the dresser.

He will kill you. No one will come looking for you if he kills you.

I could feel a sudden surge of adrenaline as I realized this.

Ignoring the pain, I reached out as quickly as I could and grabbed the wooden piece.

"Hold still mother fu-" With as much force as I could, I turned and jammed the wooden piece into his arm.
