I swear this the last Note for a while (at least at the beginning of a part), since this is an AU, things will drift away from the main story (obviously, but I felt the needed to say it).

"What!?" Zane screamed, staring at Shepard as if he had grown a second head. "Are you kidding me? You're joking right!? Tell me you're joking!"

"This can't be real," Aster said, standing next to Zane. "It just can't."

"I'm afraid I'm not joking, and this is real," Shepard told the two pro-Duelists, eyes narrowed in concern. "Jaden and the others have been transported to an Alternate Dimension."

Aster and Shepard jumped when Zane suddenly punched the wall. "Then let's get them back!" he shouted, tears threatening to form.

"I'm afraid it's not that simple." a new voice said. The three of them turned to see Maximilian Pegasus standing in the doorway, an almost sad look on his face.

"What do you mean?" Aster questioned, confused by Pegasus' statement.

The creator of Duel Monsters took a few steps towards them. "The only way for us to even have a chance at getting them back would be to find the Rainbow Dragon tablet," he explained. "and that could take a while."

Zane stumbled backwards, Aster going to catch him but stopped when Zane caught himself.

"Zane, you alright?" Aster asked, concerned.

Zane started walking for the door. "I need somed air," he told them all. "I'll be back in a few minutes."

The other three nodded and Zane left the room. He walked to the nearest tree and leaned against it, then, Zane finally allowed tears to flow freely down his face in despair. He dared not let sobs escape though.

"S-Syrus," the older Truesdale croaked out, choking on some tears. "I promise I'm going to get you back, no matter what happens. I'd rather die than know that you're dead."

A hand on his shoulder made Zane look down to see Aster gazing at him with concern. Zane blinked in confusion at him.

"Zane," the silver-haired Duelist said gently. "We'll your little brother back, just like we'll get everyone else back as well. We just have to have faith."

Zane blinked slowly once, then smiled at Aster. "Thanks," he murmured. "I needed that badly."

Aster smiled. "Hey, that's what friends do," he told him. "Come on, let's get back to Pegasus and Shepard."

Zane nodded once, then followed Aster back to the older adults.
