My alarm pierces my ear drums and travels into my head.
I get up despite the fact I got 3 hours of sleep last night, I know when I see Elliot the adrenaline is enough to keep me going through the whole day.
I put on my green baggy champion sweatshirt and dark grey jeans. My hair limply rests on the ledges of my shoulders, in 2 messy braids.
I don't wake up my mom, she would kill me if she knew I was biking to the reservoir on my own.
I make my way to my frigid garage that smells like rust. I hurdle onto my bike and make my way to the reservoir, the wind stings my face and makes it difficult for me to open my eyes all the way. Good thing I'm only around the corner.
My bike comes to a stop when I see Elliot already seated on winny.
Winny is what we call the raggedy pale-pink sofa on the tip top of the reservoir hill. It's been here for almost 4 years now, and we don't know who's it is or where it came from. It makes a pretty cool hang out, though.
"Hey" I breath out as I make my way towards Adelaide, whose leaned up against winny with her arms crossed.
"pretty cold, huh. Especially for it only being the 2nd week of fall" Adelaide says though chattering teeth.
I exchange a "hey" with Elliot and seat myself next to him on winny. The cold bites my face and creeps under my clothes, spreading across my skin like a lacy tide on a winter beach.
I look ahead to the sunset in front of us... I must have been so distracted by the frigid cold that i forgot what we came here for.
The 3 of us stared out at the morning sky.
The orange gold stretches fair and wide, the color of fiery hearths and tangerines. The promise of the rising sun that comes after the velvety night.
I glance my eyes at Elliot, i notice when the golden sunlight hits his eyes at the perfect angle, they sparkle like orange topaz. It paints his lips red, and brushes over his soft tan skin.
I stared a bit to long, and i realized he was staring back. He grins a perfectly sparkly-white grin at me, and my face flushes a rosey pink.
He quickly looks down at his phone and gets up from the sofa.
"I think we should start heading to school, it's nearly 7:20."
He grabs a hold of his bike and starts pedaling the path down the hill.
"That was odd..." I say scoffing. "He really just took off"
"He's right though, we only have 10 minutes to get to school. I'll meet you there, ok?"
She gets on her bike and pedals away before i can answer.
"Sure... right. See you there" I mutter to myself.
