There's only one day left until Christmas break and everyone is talking with everyone about their plans. Paxon and her family isn't as close as they should be. Same with Dara who became emancipated after her parents left her. Jessie doesn't have that problem, so she spends Christmas Eve or sometimes the 23rd with her friends so they have their own little Christmas. It's become tradition to go to the old tree house, set up a small fake or real tree, and buy each other gifts.
Marco's family Christmas is the only Christmas Pax and Dara know. It's mostly just Marco's parents, two siblings, and his two last grandparents. Sometimes another family member, a cousin or aunt, but that hasn't happened in a little while. Along with the regular gifts from "Santa", they all do a white elephant. Then there's dinner and movies.
The small group of friend laugh, watching Supernatural and eating chips in the library. Marco and Jessie cuddle on the big orange chair while watching, Pax sitting next to them and Dara next to Pax all in a half circle. They all just talk about weird things, some relating to their show, some just random or semi-inappropriate.
This is a tradition, to just relax in the middle of school day so they're all not so stressed out. They ignore everyone else in the room and it's just them. Which means they miss the black-haired boy who sometimes hangs out in the library to do "homework". He really just wants to see the girl who makes his heart skip a beat. He'll look at the small group of four friends, wishing he had enough confidence to walk up and talk to the girl who will probably never notice him.
Well, he was wrong. Today the girl had to return a book and so she walked away when a part she's seen before goes on to do so. The internet was a little slow today and the librarian couldn't take the book without logging it back in. The whole process was stupid but it had to be done.
The girl looks around and sees the black-haired boy, his head down and eyes focused on the papers in front of him. He doesn't notice the girl staring at first, then he lifts his head and meets her eyes. He's shocked at first then quickly looks away at the same time he does.
But looking away didn't stop the girl from thinking about his bright blue eyes and how they seemed even brighter due to his deep black hair. Then, the librarian says something, knocking thoughts of the dark haired boy out of the girl's mind. She walks back and sits with her friends as another group of friends just as close as hers laughs loudly, the dark haired boy left staring at her from afar.
