(Irina Jelavic's P.O.V)
"Come here you thief!" A gruff voice shouted, chasing a small blonde girl whose clothes were baggy and ripped; her bluebell eyes full of pain as her bare feet stepped on the jagged stones. Her knees were scratched with bruises, the once soft skin tainted by dirt and mud. Her arms and legs were sore but she held the pack of bread tightly, her other arm holding a bottle of milk.
It has been three years of her hardships, running around to steal to replenish her thirst and hunger. Trickery was her partner in the slums, a child whose innocent mind was suddenly corrupted with the dark ways of surviving.
"Is there something wrong?" A stoic voice asked, snapping me out of my dark thoughts. "Why do you ask? I'm perfectly fine." I replied, gathering the stack of test papers before me; staring at Karasuma whose eyes were transfixed on his laptop.
"If you call staring at a snail on a window sill fine then I guess I'd let it off." My eyes widened and looked back to the window, indeed there was a small snail on it. Was I deep in thought that much?
"If I had a problem then it would be none of your business." I scoffed, who does he think he is; a guidance counselor? I stood up, glaring at him in irritation. He didn't seem to mind though so I stomped out of the room with my things as I headed to my English class.
"Am I that easy to read?" I asked myself while walking to class, I'm a seductress, a trickster and hiding my emotions is one of my best attributes; how is that possible? Especially if the one that's trying to read you is a stoic person! I didn't realize that I was nearing the classroom and yanked the door forcefully without second thoughts.
My mind went back in place and I realized that 25 pairs of eyes were staring at me. I walked to the teacher's podium and put on a relaxed but faked look. "Good Afternoon Class." I greeted, setting down my things.
Time had passed so quickly and my lesson was nearing an end, the class was taking a test; leaving me to my thoughts once more. I stared at the grassy fields of the mountain and the dancing flowers seemed to catch my attention with its beautiful colors and how it seemed to sway with the wind's whistling tune. Just like me, the flowers were enchanting giving it a much more divine glow among the nature.
I didn't feel myself going into my old memories but I found myself picturing another cold night and a girl who seemed no less than 8 curled at the side of an old building, the cold stone chilling the girl as she rubbed her hands; desperate for warmth.
"Get up" A voice ordered, making the child look up; her eyes clouded of fear. "I said get up!" The man shouted, irritated with the girl's lack of movement. "Don't trust strangers." She thought to herself, it was one of the rules in the slums and in life.
The young Irina stumbled as she stood, the man smiling in satisfaction with her action. "Follow me" he ordered once more, gesturing for the blonde to follow him. The girl didn't hesitate and followed, taking out a rusty knife that she found from a garbage dump. The man didn't seem to notice the glinting weapon, his eyes fixed at the cement road as they neared the streets of the town.
The girl didn't think twice before plunging the rusty blade at the man's side, making him fall in pain. "What the-" he croaked, his hand on his side as crimson liquid bled out; staining the ground as he made an attempt to stand.
Irina smirked in satisfaction as she took the man's money and his items, smiling in triumph as she found a revolver clasped tightly on the man's leather belt.
"How clever" another voice resounded, making the girl gasp as she whirled around. Her sight leveled with another man's, though he seemed to be someone that she couldn't easily trick. "Playing innocent my dear? A little bunny that turns out to be a dangerous fox, you have skill I give you that." He said in a gruff tone and the past Irina seemed to fidget as he approached her.
