Allura stood on her balcony and stared at the stars that she looked at every night. How could she let her guard down and fall for someone when she already knew that this would never be possible. She had an arranged marriage for good sake and she would have to fall for the guy eventually. He wasn't bad either, he was a good guy, his name was Lotor.

She actually found him quite interesting and he even took her on a few dates before they got engaged sophmore year. Sure she didn't get the choice to fall for a guy but this was what her father wanted and her father knew what was best for her. She had even heard more things about him from others saying that he was a true gentlemen so, she wasn't scared about her well being when she would have to live with him.

It was the idea of 'what if she couldn't move on from this crush?' After all Lance was the first guy that ever approached and talked to her like a normal person, it had been so long since she had actually talked to someone about a topic she cared or loved for. And as for the boys that she would talk to ever so often she really didn't like, they would always talk crap about her afterwards anyways, but Lance never did such a thing.

She even remembered the one time that she overheard Lance defending her name when a bunch of kids called her a spoiled brat. It really wasn't anything new to her when she found out that some kids had been talking about her behind her back but that day she couldn't stop the ache in her heart when she heard him.

And a week afterwards when she heard the same voice again talking to a group of friends she had to turn her face to know who it was. And needless to say it was the chill boy that almost everyone knew, he was talking to his group of friends, a small brunette girl she had never seen and a taller tanned boy who had an armed wrapped around him. Instantly she felt jealous seeing the tall tanned boy wrap his arms around the small girl who's face had turned a bright red. "Lance I'm going to kill you!" Was what the small girl said.

Once she figured out what his name was, Allura couldn't contain herself from finding out more information about this boy. And shortly afterwards she had managed to memorize his schedule. She had completely become obsessed over the boy, and yet no one knew how much attention she had placed on this boy. Even when Allura would just walk through the hallway and see Lance she would grow a slight blush.

Being Altean was a plus in these sort of situations, she could easily hide her blush just by adjusting her body to warmer heat. That way no one knew about the crush that she had been developing or at least that was what she thought. A couple of days after discovering the truth about Allura, Katie had decided that she would talk to the one and only princess to get things settled.

She wasn't dumb, Katie knew the way that the two felt, it was so obvious. And yet she hated knowing that Allura would just up and leave one day without telling Lance and she would run off with a wealthier prince. Lance was everything to her, he was perfect, he was the knight in shining armor that she had always dreamed of having. And yet here she was living that dream in the sidelines. It was like she was watching a romance movie instead of being a part of it.

This was enough, she was finally going to change the way things were and stand up for who she believed in and for the life that she had always wanted. And maybe, just maybe she would finally have the courage to ask Lance out on a real date. Not the pity date that she got when she was in 7th grade when she cried over a boy who had called her ugly because she looked like a boy.

When Lance realized that Katie had been hurt by this he had put manners into his own hands and had invited Katie over to his house were he decorated the living room with fancy white christmas lights from the attic and put a picnic blanket right in the middle. That day Lance had eagerly forced her to put on a dress, one of Katie's last in her closet and he had worn the khakis and long sleeved sweater that he used to have when he was smaller.
