I walk downstairs and into the living room. "Mom?" I walked around and out of the living room and into the kitchen. I looked around and saw a note on the counter, the note said: Sorry that I'm not home, I had to go to a business meeting at the Police station, I should be home around noon or however long it takes

- Mom.

I pulled my phone out and saw it was 6:30 pm. "My mom should have been home by now." I mumble to myself. I unlocked my phone and went to my contacts, I looked for my moms. Once I found hers I pressed the call button and waited for her to pick up. The phone ringed four times and then went to her voicemail, I hung up and set my phone down on the counter. I walked over to the fridge and grabbed a water bottle, my phone started to ring, I ran over to it, and saw a unknown number, "Hello?" I answered, "Heaven where are you?" I heard Hope ask, "Um I'm at my moms, why? What's going on?" I ask, "Alaric she's at her moms, Heaven I need you to get out of there." I heard her say. I heard something fall behind me, I looked and saw nothing there. "Why?" I ask, "Heaven, just listen to me okay? I need you to get out of there, someone's coming after you and this someone isn't a very nice person." This time I heard Alaric say, I went to say something but before I could I felt someone put their hand around my mouth. The person who had their hand on my mouth took my phone from me. "I get what I want. And what I want is the girl." I heard a female voice say. I heard the woman put my phone down. "Now im going to remove my hand, and your not going to scream." She said as she did. She walked in front of me. "Who are you?" I ask a little bit scared, "Oh who am I? I'm glad you ask, I'm Zoe." She said with a small smile. "What do you want with me?" I ask wanting to know, "Well, you see, your mother and father hide you really good from the witches in New Orleans. The witches need all the harvest girls and your the last one they need." She smirked looking at me. "Isn't the harvest where a group of witches gather four young witches that are chosen by the witches ancestors?" I ask her, she looked at me and laughed, "Look who does their homework, your very close of what a harvest girl is where there's a ritual and that ritual is called the harvest ritual.

The Harvest Ritual is a ceremony that is performed by those in the New Orleans witche who practice Ancestral Magic. This sacrificial ritual is performed once every 300 years as a means to strengthen the connection between the living witches of New Orleans and their deceased Ancestors, from whom they draw their magical power.

The Harvest ritual involves appeasing the witches' ancestors by giving them an offering of power in exchange for the Ancestors strengthening the coven's connection to their magic, which weakens over time. The offering is meant to prove the coven's faith, not only in the Harvest ritual, but in the Ancestors themselves and the ancestral magic that the New Orleans witches, both living and dead, practice. To prove this faith, the coven sacrifices four young witch girls who are put in a kind of limbo for the duration of the Harvest ritual. Then, the coven is rewarded by their Ancestors for their faith and their offering of power by resurrecting the four girls and making the coven's connection to their Ancestors' magic even more powerful for the following three centuries, until the ritual is to be performed again, a stage that is known as the Reaping." Zoe explained, "Your mother and her sister where harvest girls, now our ancestors choose you to be in the harvest." She said, I looked at her. "I don't want to be in the harvest nor do I want to die and then come back to life from it." I said as I heard a phone ring, 'My phone!' I looked at my phone and saw it was the school number calling. I reached over to get it but Zoe was quick to get it. "Hmm, the Salvatore boarding school, you go there huh." She answered my phone and put it on speaker phone, "Heavens phones, she's not here right now-" She got cut off by a voice, "Cut the crap, Zoe, where's my daughter." My mother demanded. Zoe looked up at me, "She's right here, in the kitchen with me." She said. "Just let her go, the ancestors don't want her, there's already four girls for the harvest. The rest of the witches told Davina and I that there isn't going to be a hybrid Harvest girl, so let her go or so help me god-" my mother was cut off by Zoe hanging up the phone. She looked down and back up at me, but when she looked back up at me, I noticed blood coming out of her eyes. "I'm sorry." She said, "What's happening to you?" I ask as she touched her face. "The ancestors are punishing me for my wrong doing" As soon as she said that, the room began to shake and a bright light appears and the next minute she's gone.
