THE WEEK HAD BEEN LONG FOR THE NEW PROFESSOR
He felt like all he did was talking, constantly. Not because he was fond of talking, but he had questions flying left and right. He got that the students wanted to ask him questions during class regarding the subject. He encouraged them to ask after all and he did what he could to meet their curious minds.
But most of the questions he got was those during breakfast, lunch or dinner in the great hall, or in the staff room when he went for a coffee break in between classes. Mostly the other teachers asked him what he did before returning as a professor, if he got that contract with the Tutshill Tornados after all or if he had decided to train as an Auror.
He was also getting to know some of the more recent staff that didn't work at Hogwarts when he went as a student.
One of the professors Edgar liked spending time with, in the staff room, was Quirinus Quirrell. They talked about things that didn't revolve around Edgar. They talked mostly about their subjects since Edgar was actually taking over professor Quirrell's position after the summer as he wanted to take a year off and travel to gain some first-hand experience before returning in 1991 as the new DADA teacher.
When the two professors didn't talk they just sat there, writing on some papers or reading a book while drinking something hot. It was never an unwelcome silence. It was just really nice to be in someone's company without interacting too much.
Edgar knew he was going to get used to all the talking after a while. It's just been a bit quiet in his life for a couple of years, he never really talked a lot to the staff at the muggle-school he had taught at and the only friends he had contact with still was Remus and his very best Laila.
Laila had been a busy bee ever since the war. She had married and started a family, all the while she still held a position at the ministry but had revealed that she would soon step down because she wanted to spend more time with her family.
Edgar did not know how she managed all that, and he was very proud of his friend. He just missed her terribly.
Remus had recently started to push Edgar away more and more. The Hufflepuff had his suspicions why that was of course. Every time he tried to push him away though, Edgar would still fight himself back, because he knew that Remus was lonely, especially during a full moon.
None of his animagi friends were around anymore and Edgar doubted that Remus would join a werewolf community. He understood that they were really dark and violent and Edgar knew that Remus has had enough darkness and violence in his life already.
It was the weekend and Edgar had just made it back from a trip to Hogsmeade. He had a bag filled with various chocolates that he had purchased at Honeydukes. The students that visited Honeydukes had looked at him a little oddly for shoving so much chocolate into his basket.
It was early May, two days after the latest full moon and his mind had been on Remus the entire time, hoping he hadn't hurt himself too much.
Returning to his room that was located close to the DADA classroom, he immediately began packaging the majority of the chocolate frogs and wands into a parcel and then quickly sat down to write a short letter.
Dear Moony,
I hope you are doing alright. Here's some chocolate you can eat if you don't feel well. It always makes things better, right?
