She walks down the aisles of the almost vacant pharmacy, looking for her source of happiness. Her feet stop in front of the little window in which she sees a boy. Lilac hair, eyebrow piercing. Very professional, she thinks. Her knuckles rap on the window until she gets his attention.

"What?" He pulls his headphones out of his ears and opens up the window. "Prescription please?"

She hands over his prescription slip without speaking.

He scans over it, making sure everything's in order. "Marina, huh? Nice name."

"Thank you." Marina mumbles as he watches him rummage through the various bottles. "What's yours?" Her voice gets louder for him to hear her.

"Michael. Call me Mikey." He lets out a sigh. "So you're... depressed?" Two containers fall to the floor and he groans.

"Y-yeah." Marina never been this open with people, but with Mikey, he feels safe. She wants to talk to him.

He places an orange bottle with light blue tablets in it in front of her. "Make sure you take these, alright? No more, no less." His tone was serious and his eyebrows furrowed.

Marina simply nodded and gave him a sad smile. "So what were you listening to earlier?" She tried to make conversation, not wanting to leave yet.

Michael was confused, but caught on a few seconds later. "Oh! Oh, that? Do I Wanna Know by the Arctic Monkeys."

"You listen to the Arctic Monkeys?" She scoffed, not believing him. "I bet you're one of those who follow the trend, yeah? Say you listen to a band that you actually don't give a shit about."

"I do listen to them! Honest!"

"Name five songs. And none of them can be from the AM album."

"Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair, Teddy Picker, Fluorescent Adolescent, Mardy Bum, and The Bad Thing." He says, not missing a beat. This causes Marina to grin and somehow make her way back into his tiny pharmaceuticals area. It stunk of plastic and different medicines.

"Does it get boring?" She leans against the door frame and blows a piece of hair out her face.

"Fuck yeah. We lost all our business to that new Wal-Mart. Fucking superstore." He mumbles the last part and laughs a bit, before looking back up into the sky blue eyes of the blonde haired girl.

A quiet beep goes off from Marina's pocket, and even though it's quiet, it's there. She pulls her phone from her pocket and checks the time. "Shit, I have to go. But I'll see you around, yeah?"

Michael smiles at how flustered she looks and gives her a piece of paper with his number on it. "Call me if you wanna have fun." He winks and sends her on his way.

"Thank you again!" She yells behind his shoulder as he runs out the pharmacy. Not looking where she's going, she collides into a slightly taller boy and her pills fall to the ground. "Oh my gosh, I'm so... sorry." Her voice trails off as she notices him staring at her pills. Her tiny little fingers quickly scoop them up and she looks down, her cheeks crimson red.

"Those are anti-depressants, right?" He lets his curiosity get the best of him.

Marina looks to his name tag. "Yeah, Ashton?" She wonders if she got his name right, even though it's a simple one. "You work here?"

"Yeah." Ashton smiles at Marina,

and takes in how her chipped, navy blue nail polish looks flawless on her fingernails.

and how every few seconds she messes with her bangs that hang low on her face.

and how she can't stand still, always rocking on one foot to the next,

and her shoes. Her all black vans that perfectly fit her tiny feet, and her rolled up jeans that expose bright blue socks popping out from her shoes.

"Well, I have to go, see ya' around." Marina says, waking Ashton from his thoughts. Before he can even say bye, he's gone.

"Hey, Mike! Sorry m'late." Ashton yells as he seats himself in a stool behind the register.

"Hm. I saw you talking to Marina out there." Michael honestly didn't care, but he had nothing better to do or talk about.

"That's her name? Oh." Ashton felt silly that Michael had gotten farther with this girl than him.

"Yeah. She's really fucking cool." Michael pulls a cigarette and a lighter from his backpack - the one he takes with him everywhere - and lights up. "You don't mind, do you?"

Ashton shakes his head and watches as Michael puffs a smoke ring from his nose. "Do you think she'll uh, come back anytime soon?"

"If she does, it'd be to talk to me." Michael grins cheekily at Ashton. "Or for the underpriced candy."
