I woke up one rainy day in a more miserable mood than usual. I looked at my wrists. There was fresh new scars cut along my forearm. I huffed and pushed my hair out of my face. I walked slowly over to my closet and put on a pair of plain jeans, a plain black fitted long sleeve shirt, and maroon vans. I brushed my hair and left it down, straight and natural. I grabbed my phone and sat on my bed for a few minutes.
"Daniella get your ass down here!" my mom yelled. I was terrified. She was my worst nightmare. I slowly walked down the steps. When I got down, she was sitting in the couch with a beer bottle in her hand. Broken glass covered our shiny hardwood floor. Why the hell was she drinking at 7:00 I'm the morning?
"Clean this shit up." she said pointing down at the floor.
"Yes ma'am." I said. I walked into the kitchen and got the broom and dust pan. I walked back in and began sweeping it up. When I stood back up, she threw her empty beer bottle at my face. It broke and deeply cut my cheek.
"Ow!!!" I screamed, dropping the broom.
"You dumb bitch, don't scream!" She yelled and smacked me across the face. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Justin peeking behind the wall of the steps. I walked back up the steps.
"Pack some things for tonight and tomorrow, we're leaving." I whispered to him as we both climbed back up the steps. I went in the bathroom and put some peroxide on a cotton ball and dabbed my cut. Then, I walked into my room and packed a huge suitcase and zippered it. We both grabbed our book bags, and suit cases and tossed them out my bedroom window. Then, we hopped out and sneaked out to my car. I had also grabbed my college savings jar. There was at least $25,000 in there. We drove away as fast as possible to school. We left our stuff in the trunk of my car and went in. We went to a school that was 6th through 12th. I kissed him on his forehead and said good bye to him and rushed to English class. Aaron sat next to me in this class. I sat down in my seat and Aaron waved at me. I waved back.
"What happened to your face?" He ask touching the cut. I winced and pulled back.
"Nothing." I said. "Absolutely nothing." I whispered.
