Chapter 2- Mitch

I sip on my coffee, unlocking the door.

Scott rushes to me, kissing me instantly... I pull away, putting my coffee down. I glared into his eyes.

"Scott..." I whisper. "I thought?"

"I love you Mitch. Nothing is ever going to change that. I really do love you Mitch." He kisses me again, softly.

"I do too." I can't belive I was really kissing Scott.

"Scott?" I knock on his room door.

"Come in." I walk in.

"I need to tell you something... it's about that kiss this morning. The whole time we were kissing, I kept thinking about us. I can't be dating you right now, Scott. I'm just not ready." I say.

"I get it. That whole time you were sticking your tongue down my throat was out of unsure thoughts?"

"I'm sorry!" I apologize.

"Get out." he says.

"But-"

"GET OUT!!!! I HATE YOU!" Scott screams.

"Okay. Just don't ask me to come back." I slam the door on my way out.

Later that evening, I went down to New Jersey Hospital to visit Amber.

"Knock, Knock!" I lean against the door.

"MITCH!!!" Amber squeals. She had a cannula in her nose, and her hair cut like mine.

"Amber. You look so beautiful!" I hug her.

"Thanks. God I can't belive you are here." she says in my shoulder.

"So how have you been?" I sit next to her.

"Alive but barely breathing. They took me off of chemo earlier. So-" a tear goes down her cheek.

"Amber, Amber! C'Mon now, be happy! now how about that song?"

I sit at her little keyboard stand, and play a chromatic scale before I play.

"This is for Amber." I clear my throat.

"I stay out to too late! got nothing in my brain! that's what people say, mm- hmm that's what people say mm-Hmm. I go on too many dates, but I can't make them stay, but I keep cruising.. Cause a player s gonna play, play play." I sing.

Amber smiles, tears running down her face.

"Shake it off, shake it off." I stood up, hugging Amber again.

"Mitch, can I ask you something?"

"Anything." I answer.

"I like this boy, and I don't have a clue what to say. Could you lend me advice?"

"Well- at the right time, there is this little moment in your life when you start to realize; there is nothing else I can think about is that person. That what let's you know you have chosen the right person in your life." I say surprising myself.

"Thanks." she smiles.

my phone beeps. "I got to go Amber, but you stay strong girl okay?"

"Okay." she whispers.

did we just have a TFIOS moment? I thought.

I smiled. "Okay."
