In the upcoming chapters on "Being A Ghetto Virgin" you will see that the storyline is not just based on the chapter title, but it is also base on the fact that Leah was naive. Her outlook on life was narrow minded also she is ignorant on the different stages of development of her body.
You will see that what the life of a typical Jamaica woman is like growing up.Women in the rural area especially those who are uneducated are neglectful towards their children. They do it in the name of 'their child best interest' but their decision never seem to make their child/ children lives better.

Being a teen and a virgin is a very big deal living in Jamaica, especially in rural areas it's like you're not human if you choose not to have sex. Living in a community like Quick Springs your highest achievement is to either drop out of high school due to pregnancy or to graduate high school and become a victim of domestic violence.
But there was this one girl who saw life from a different perspective. It's like she was given a sacred scroll of how to rise out of poverty and mental slavery. She was certainly one to be in the odds. She had congruence between academics and her social life.
Unfortunately, all this change when sex and infatuation came into her perfect world. Before Leah became what you would call a nerd she was just a simple little girl who wanted to fit in, she wanted to fit in the same circle of friends her cousin Amoy. Amoy could be described as curvious and beautiful which made her popular. Even in primary school she looked mature; having full breast, pubic hair and developing curves. Leah on the other hand, was what you would call a 'late bloomer'. She was not maturing as fast as Amoy and she made sure Leah knew that. There were times when Amoy and her friends would make fun of Leah underdevelopments. "Kadeen look at Leah, she looks malnutritious!" Amoy retorted and everyone would burst out in a fit of laughter. Leah would just look at them feeling hurt and run off wailing never made a complaint or retaliate because it's coming from her own flesh and blood, her own cousin Amoy would start it and everyone would follow. Not only did they say all those nasty things about Leah but she would also believe them.
She believed every word that came out of their lying mouths. She would walk with her head down feeling heavily self-conscious having the impression that everyone she walked pass was laughing at her. But she never think of suicide as a matter of fact she thought contrarily, she taught of life. Leah taught that if looks weren't one of her strong suit then she will make sure that she is highly educated. Little did Leah knew that she was just in her first stage of puberty.Leah had just started high school. Although it high school she was currently attending was not her first choice. "Leah I am sorry you didn't pass for Riversdale Tech but I am glad that you will be attending Long Hill College with me" Gia said sympathetically. Leah knew that Long Hill College was not a bad choice. Besides at least her and her twin brother was attending the same school and she liked the thought of that very much. "It's fine Gia, tbh I was not that settled in primary school so my first choice seemed a bit far fetched. Besides I am optimistic about attending this school not only it was my second choice but I get to stick with my brother" Leah explained herself. It was great that Leah got her second choice but little did she know of what was coming.
Leah and Liam are what you call paternal twin they are unidentical. Liam is the total opposite of Leah. He is more extraverted fit in any social circle perfectly. Despite his extraverted drive he was not one to speak up in conflictuous situations. Not once did he ever tried defending his sister. Perhaps it's because society stems him to be the younger sibling and as such he looks to Leah for support. Her intellectual maturity deemed her more responsible and therefore, he looks for her to fight his battles and not the other way around.

In this story some of Leah's experience are base on the authors experience growing up.
The reason I'm not making this story all fictional is because I want my readers to have feel or a basic understanding of what people standard of living are in Jamaica.
I do hope you guys enjoy the read. I'll will not make the book depressing but it will be an experiential read.
