chapter 3:HOWLER

Alex's POV

It is now the day after we all got sorted, I already hate a few people, including my house's male prefect, the female prefect was nice to be me, I ended up becoming friends with her so I'm sitting with her this morning. Owl calls can he heard and owls fly over head, I spot Sirius' owl come in with the red letter marking it a howler. The letter is dropped and I take a deep breath and look around, looking at Remus the longest, he gives me a sad smile, everyone has their letters or packages. I open the letter and it forms to a mouth "ALEX MARIE STRIDER HOW DARE YOU LET THE SORTING HAT SORT YOU INTO SLYTHERIN! YOU KNOW HOW I, AS A GRYFFINDOOR FEEL ABOUT THEM, LET ALONE THE FACT THAT MY WHOLE FUCKING FAMILY WAS SLYTHERINS! YOU ARE A FUCKING DISAPPOINTMENT TO ME! YOU FUCKING BITCH!" the howler yells, then shreds itself, I get up and quickly walk out tears in my eyes, until finally breaking down into a panic attack of sorts outside the great hall doors, against the wall right across. I curl up and sob my scars throbbing with sadness. A little while later Remus comes out and sits by me "he didn't mean it pup, I know he didn't, he's just mad"he says softly, I lean on him still sobbing and he pulls me into his lap, playing with my hair and humming to calm me down. A few seconds later Toby comes out "is she okay?"I hear her ask and I feel Remus nod. Toby sits down "he sounded pissed"she comments and Remus sighs "he never had good experiences with Slytherins, he wouldn't do this if Lilly and James were still alive, Lilly would have beat him up for doing this to Alex"Remus says with a slight chuckle. I still haven't calmed down that much by the time the great hall doors open again "is she okay?""yeah is she okay? I seen how badly that effected her"I hear two male voices say. "Who knew she'd attract the attention of two Hufflepuff and a Gryffindoor"Remus says before sighing "she's fine just shaken up is all"he says with sencerity in his voice. After about a hour of sitting and listening to Remus humming and his heartbeat as he plays with my hair I fall into a peaceful sleep.

I wake up a few hours late in my room, a note beside me that had a small moon drawn on it so I know it's Remus. I open it and read it.
"Dear Alex, I hope you are feeling better by the time you wake up, I would have stayed with you in the hall but Dumbledore said you'd probably be more comfortable in your bed. I sent Sirius a howler back telling him that he made you have a panic attack and that he was just being selfish. If you need me I'm in my classroom. I hid the Marauder's Map in your bedside table so you can find me. To see it just say 'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good'  and to hide it simply say 'mischief  managed' both with your wand in the middle. I love you pup and I'm sorry he was like that to you, just know I don't care what house you are in, you are still my pup. ~Remus Lupin-Black" I smile after reading it, Remus always knows how to make me feel better, even if it means cussing out his husband.

The next day I get a apology letter from Sirius. I look at Remus and give him a thankful smile, he gives a proud grin back. My Lycanthrope dad is a goof but I love him.

Today is the day of Slytherin quidditch try outs, since they want to be ahead of Gryffindoor so I try out as a beater. I made the quidditch team. I got a letter later that day from Sirius telling me how proud he is of me.
