Hook's smirk falls at the princess' words, disbelief covering what used to be happiness on his face. There was no way what the princess was saying is true for he had been told if the Dark One was stabbed with a certain a posion, there was no magic that could heal him. Besides, how could a mere princess who's been sheltered her entire life, know how to kill the most evil person in the land?
"Don't play tricks with me, princess," Hook warns despite his thoughts, his voice lowering in a threatening manner. "I could easily kill you instead if I have to."
"I'm not afraid of you, Hook," Delilah says as if Hook was just another villager, a nobody to her. It angered him, he was the most ruthless pirate and yet, she wasn't afraid of him.
"Oh, but you should be," Hook let's go of Delilah and walks off the dance floor, Delilah staring as he walks before finally chasing after him. She grabs his arm and he jerks it out of her grasp, quickly turning to her. "Watch it, princess, don't let mommy and daddy you running after a pirate."
"You never let me finish," she grabs his arm again and pulls him off to the side, away from anyone that could be listening to their conversation. "I know where the dagger is."
"How could you possibly know where the dagger is?" first the princess says she knows of the real way to kill the Dark One and now she tries telling Hook she knows where the weapon is. In the beginning, Hook may have believed her, but now he can tell she is just playing him.
"He told me," Hook burst out laughing at this, catching the attention of a few guards and a few villagers. Delilah is quick to stop his laughter with her hand, glaring up at him in anger. "I would like it if you wouldn't laugh at something this serious. I wasn't joking when I said he told me where it is. He just didn't know he told me where it is."
"What do you mean by that?" Hook takes her hand off his mouth with his hook, the chill of the metal sending a shiver down Delilah's back.
"I may have used magic given to me by someone in order to get some information on something they needed," Delilah says innocently. "I may have just thrown in a few questions of my own, just in case."
"How do I even know if I can trust you?" Hook couldn't tell whether he believes every word falling from her mouth or not. But it's better to be prepared and get the dagger than to not.
"What reason would I have to lie?" She had a point, and Hook knew she knew she had him in. The look on Hook's face gave away that he was willing to work with her and she smiles. "Meet me in my room after the ball. I'd tell you which one, but I'm sure you'll figure it out."
"Why can't we just talk now?" Hook ask, his smirk creeping back to his face. "Unless there's another reason you want me in your room."
"I can't have my family asking questions about you," Delilah admits, searching for them in the crowd to make sure they weren't looking. "Unless you want me to tell them you're Captain Hook, the most ruthless pirate. The pirate who steals, kills, and is trying to get in bed with their daughter. I'm not sure that would go over to well, don't you?"
"Yeah, I do," Hook stares at Delilah as she innocently smiles at him before turning around and walking away. He continues staring as she walks around the food table, taking another bite of some snack, and walking to her sister.
The rest of the night, Delilah could feel Hook's eyes on her. While she was speaking to other royals, he was looking at her. While she danced, while she ate, but the weird thing was, she didn't mind it. It meant she got to him, got inside his head and by the way he was staring, Delilah doesn't think she'll ever leave it either.
Delilah was once again dancing, smiling and laughing as her dad danced with her. She's turns and another man she doesn't really know stands in front of her. He's a villager and is a normal to the parties, but she never quite learned his name. The dance with him ends and she's spinning, turning back to see Hook once again in front of her. Delilah wants to laugh, but instead smiles and bows.
"Glad of you to join me, again," she teases, stepping towards Hook and he places his hand on her hip.
"Well, I couldn't just let you have all the fun, now can I?" Hook answers, but she groans, making Hook look at her with a confused expression.
"I would hardly call this fun," she begins, placing her hand against his. "I'm not to keen on the balls, the dresses, the princess lifestyle all together. A bit boring if you ask me. There's no action, no adventure. Where's the fun in that?"
"I have to agree with you there," Hook bows before turning to go to the next girl in line. Finally, the dance ends and everyone goes their own ways.
The night continues and still Delilah can feel Hook's eyes on her. At one point, while she's in a conversation with a baker about the latest thing they created, Delilah catches Hook staring at her. She laughs and gives him a small wave, making the baker turn to see who she was waving at, asking who the man was.
"He's from another part of the land," Delilah answers, still staring at Hook who only stares back. "He's a bit mean, a little rough around the edges, but that doesn't mind me. He likes to act all bad and scary, but I can tell he's the farthest from it."
"What's this man's name?" The baker ask, causing Delilah to turn away from Hook.
"I'm not really sure," she answers, pushing a stray hair behind her ear. "I only met him when we were dancing, he's a good dancer if I'm going to be honest."
"You seem to like him, if I'm going to be honest," the baker takes a small drink of their glass before walking away, leaving Delilah no room to object. She didn't like him, she barely knew him, and barely was an understatement. Sure, she seemed pulled to him for some reasons and sure, they were about to spend hours upon hours together, but that's beside the point. He's a pirate, the most ruthless pirate, he steals, kills, and tries to get into everyone's bed. She couldn't possibly like someone like him.
