Chapter 1
Adam
September 7th 2017. Starting school today already makes me want to kill myself but starting Year 11 is even worse. Although seeing my friends will be a positive I guess. After my alarm incessantly rings, I do my usual routine of brushing, washing and all that malarkey. Most people don't have time to eat sandwiches for school but for me it either that or I will not function for the rest of the day. Before I know it, my best friend Freya is at my front door waiting to walk to school. Let the day begin! - oh and by the way my names Adam.
Walking into school is more dreadful than I imagine. The distant screams of children and teachers already telling students how to live their lives. Before I walk through the gates I prepare myself for the hugs from my friends who I haven't seen for the whole of the summer considering my trip to Amsterdam which took up most of it. The only reason I'm even pushing myself through the day is to get my timetable and to see everyone again after ages.
As 8:30 rapidly approaches, I enter into my form class to here a pointless lecture on how important this year of school is and how we are now the role models for the younger students. I can already Alex and Aled annoy people and my close friend Marissa scream to be positive because it's the first day of the year when we all know tomorrow she's going to be counting down the days till the summer holiday. My highly aggravated teacher Ms Galeria talks and talks until half of the classes eyes are shut. When finally our timetables are given I scan the page quickly to see which teachers I've fortunately or unfortunately been assigned to. Surprisingly, the year seems to already be going well. I got assigned a lot of new teachers and well a few old ones that I'm not to worried about. Except for of course Mr Hovis who you will later learn why it's such a problem.
Break finally arrives and everyone retells their summer holiday stories the only thing people want to do is go home. I seem to have Biology next with Miss Rellis who reminds me of a real life witch although, that's only from the stories I've heard. Carlisle, my best friend, and Freya (my other best friend) grab me and we all judge what everyone's wearing and laugh about completely pointless things like our faces. Biology starts and considering it's my favourite science I hope it isn't ruined this year.
As time moves on, Lunch is here which would generally be my favourite time of day since I love food although, the food here in Paramount (yes like the film thing) Academy is vile and whenever we mention the changes we just get huge amounts of lectures from our overly appreciated head teacher Mr Donatello who brags about how we are lucky because our school is better compared to others and all the other stuff I choose to ignore. I eat the regular chicken salad which is just lettuce with cucumbers and bits of chicken. I guess this my schools way or encouraging 'healthy eating.'
Next I seem to have PE and surprisingly I chose it as one of my options although I was forced by my egotistical father who was so hell driven on me getting an A* in PE when he already knows it's not the path I'm going to choose in the future. I enter the Sports Lounge and make eye contact with Mr Hovis (my PE coach) . I don't really know what to say except from "Hello" which possibly comes out rude but he continues smiling at me so I'm confident it wasn't. Before It gets any further I pretend to wave at someone and walk away. Plus I have him for a double period now so we can talk plenty then. I really don't like him but every time I mention it to him, he gives me lectures on how it isn't a nice thing to say these type of things but to be honest when does being nice actually get you anywhere.
This lesson seems to drag and I'm having to make conversation with people whose name I just managed to learn last year and well it's different considering I haven't got my best friends with me. Freya chose drama because well she can be a bitch when you tell her to be one (for acting of course) and Carlisle chose music considering all he ever does is sing till you go crazy. I guess I don't mind that PE wasn't really an interest for me since I don't like any of the other subjects anyway. There's a girl in the back quite literally sexting out loud, so flirting, but the teachers don't seem to care. I mean Paramount isn't perfect but it sure does have it's collection of idiosyncratic students.
