"So you're saying you stand by a racist bigot? Did you forget that the government has been shut down for almost a month due to his hissy fit?!"

"Let's not forget Obama shut down the government as well. How is that different? What because Obama is the quote-unquote cool president?"

"Obama shut down the government for healthcare! Trump is shutting down the government for something that won't benefit the states"

"Do you know how many illegals come from where he's trying to protect? They come with drugs, women, viruses! You name it and they have it"

"What do they have that we don't have already? We aren't perfect. The United States has a lot bigger problems to worry about right now like oh I don't know the fact that we no longer have a missile treaty with Russia!"

"Oh God you of all people should understand that since Trump doesn't ass kiss the public he's painted the wrong way, nobody was saying anything when Obama bombed those countries did they?"

"He made fun of a disabled man on national television!"

"And Obama killed children. But because Donald doesn't pop up in television shows and has a socially acceptable wife he's scum? Please!"

The TV screen turned black as Koji rolled his eyes at the women on the screen who thought they were better than the forty percent of the world that wouldn't get treated the same because of their looks, tossing the remote to his side and leaning his bed back.

Their pearls were sitting and shining perfectly on their chests, Koji noticed the Republican woman would touch hers whenever she felt her rival had a point but knew she'd never say it out loud.c That was the main problem with debates, no one was willing to give in. Guess that's why they're called debates right?

The innocence that their skin color was supposed to represent irritated Koji as he sat in an uncomfortable position in his hospital bed. His arm had to stay propped up, he was only allowed to lay on his back and not on his belly like he slept every night.

"You shouldn't watch stuff like that" Kalani muttered from the seat she was sitting on, a comic book propped up on her knees and her long hair draping down her back. "Watch some boxing or something"

"Why would I do that when I know I'll never train again?" Koji mumbled.

"You never know"

Koji kept silent, leaning his head back and making up faces of the blobs he saw on the ceiling.

"You know" Koji started catching Kalani's attention. "Getting shot isn't like how they show on the movies"

Kalani marked her place in her comic, scooting her chair closer to the hospital bed.

"What was it like?"

"....it felt like I was being hit with a firework display, shock rushed through my body and then everything was blurry. Moved in slow motion. My wrist was broken and I couldn't even feel it because of how badly it hurt" He described keeping his eyes on the ceiling.

"Was there a light? I always hear about a light"

"Nah no light. Just blurs. I couldn't breathe though. My body felt like it was just stuck....and they didn't even care"

Nova knocked three times on the door, her face red and tired. She was carrying a plastic container full of food with chopsticks sitting on top of it. "Hey guys, how are you feeling today Koji?"
