Another lonely day...

Nothing new, honestly. I've gotten so used to it that I don't even try to search for friends to pass the time.

As I was walking into the small corner store, something brown and furry quickly dashed past my feet, causing me to screech in return. "C'mere you little-" a man exclaims reaching toward my feet.

"Ah! What are you doing?" I yell at the man stepping back quickly. "That fucking dog peed on my hot dog cart!" he yells at me, bad breath swarming my face. "W-what do-" I start before something warm and furry nestles itself against the back of my leg. I look down to see a really small black and brown pomeranian seeking cover behind my skinny legs.

"Now if you'll move out of my way, I'm gonna put that thing out of its mis-" he says angrily, inching toward me. Well, inching toward the dog hiding behind me to be more specific.

"N-no! I'll take him, just be on your way." I said reaching down to scoop up the cute little pup. "Excuse you? He pissed on my cart and he's gonna pay!" he yells at me again and I roll my eyes. "Hey look sir I don't want any trouble so just give the little guy a break, please?" I say while looking into his eyes hoping to win him over.

"What fairy tale world do you live in where please and thank you will change my mind?" he sort of creepily chuckles.

He slowly steps closer to me and the tiny dog barks at him in defense mode. "Look, kid, it's you or the dog. But I'm fine with both," he smirks putting his hands into his pockets.

"Leave us alone, I won't tell you again," I say backing away giving the guy a serious look. I took off running and he quickly followed closely behind. Once I had run behind the building into the alley he snatched me by my jacket, throwing me against a trash can.

"Ah!" I hissed as I slid down the front of the large metal trash bin, the dog still curled tightly into a ball in my arms. "All this over a little dog?" I yelled at the man. "You fuckin' prick." I spat at the man.

I winced as he pulled his arm back quickly, ready to punch me in the face when I heard a punch instead of feeling one. My eyes shot open to see a guy in a brown jacket and red sweatpants wrestling him to the ground.

I took off running, not waiting around to meet my hero. When I was far enough away to a point where the man couldn't catch up to me, I stopped running and slowed to a brisk walk. I turned around to see the guy who attacked me on the ground and my unlikely savior walking toward me.

The guy in the brown jacket calls after me and waves his arms, causing me to freeze. "Are you okay?" he yells and his black beanie falls off, revealing bright red hair. My eyes open widely when he starts jogging toward me.

Run Kasey, run...

Run.
