Kelsey POV

I walked into my house. Sneaking to my room in fear my father would yell at me. I didn't realize it earlier but my dad started drinking . I remember when I came home late when I accidentally feel asleep at Joes house. He was so angry and drunk he almost hit me in the face.

Luckily though I got up in my room and changed into a different shirt and hiking boots. It was gonna be hot so I didn't bother to change my shorts.

I put on Joes necklace he got me. "Wait a second. The trail to the bluffs has a lake. I'll bring two bathing suits just Incase Charlotte needs one." I said bringing a neon red and green bikini.

I met up with Joe and Charlotte. "I'm ready." I smiled. "Same let's go!" Joe smiled.Charlotte smirked. Hopefully she and I can get along.

We got to the trail. Charlie and Max were already there. "You told your parents about this right?" Max ask. We all nodded.

The hike was pretty normal. Joe and I were flirting with each other. Charlotte was clearly annoyed but we didn't care. Joe and I had this soft spot for the bluffs. Joe and I got lost at the bluffs when we were eleven and there was a search and rescue for us. We didn't understand at the time.

We got to the crystal clear lake and set up camp. "Last one into the lake is a loser!" Joe said. "Wait i don't have a bathing suit." Charlotte sighed. "I got you girly." I said handing her the neon green bikini.

The lake was so clear you could see the bottom. You even could see the fish that were swimming. "CHICKEN FIGHT." Max said. I was on Joes back and Char was on Max's. It was amazing.

Later that night Joe started a fire. "S'mores anyone?" Charlie asked. We all nodded. Char and I were giggling and having fun. "You are actually sweet. Thank you so much for letting me use your bikini!" Char smiled giving me a hug. "Sorry about the way I behaved." She sighed. "No worries no worries." I smiled. I'm happy we are friends now.

Everyone fell asleep in their tents except for me and Joe. We were sitting on the dock. "I can't believe it's July first. It seems like yesterday it was the nineteenth of June." I sighed resting my head on his shoulders. "It's like every year summer goes by quicker and quicker." He sighed. "I can't  wait to grow up  Joe." I started to cry. "I want to leave my dad so badly. I love him but ever since I've came back here my dad started to drink heavily." "Don't cry." Joe hugged me tightly. "I promise everything will be okay."  He wiped my tears away
