Kelsey POV
I woke up in the hospital, at first I didn't even realize where I was. The noises of the machines scared me at first. The beeps and boops actually made me jump out of the bed I was in.
My father, Joe and his family was there. I was wondering why they were all there, then I looked at me arm. There was a huge cast on it. I wondered where I got it from, then it hit me. On the Fourth of July, when Joe was about to kiss me, I fell out of the tree we were in. 'I'm so stupid.' I thought as I examined my art.
"Kelsey! You're okay." My father said as he hugged me tightly. I could smell the vodka in his breath, but I didn't mention it. Joe and I locked eyes. I could see he had to be one of the happiest people in the world. "Kelsey, I thought you were a goner, the doctors said you should be thankful that your awake."
"Huh? What do you mean? How long have I been asleep for?" I asked in wonder, the last date I remembered was July 4th, but I was worried that the summer was completely over, and school was about to start.
"It's only been two days, you were going in and out of consciousness though, so we knew you were alive." My father smiled. I mentally got scared. What if I had to stay in here the rest of the summer?
"Oh the bright side you're leaving today!" Joe smiled. I gave a sigh of relief. "How long till I can get this stupid thing off?" I asked waving my casted arm around like a stupid person would.
As soon as I said that the doctor came in. "You will have it off by two weeks Kelsey." He said happily. "You all can leave now." He said shaking my fathers hand.
~~~~~
I kept on twisting and turning in bed. I just couldn't sleep with this damn cast on my arm. I looked at my clock. 12am? Ughhh I can't even right now. I heard something, like a rock thrown at my window.I walked over to said window and opened it up. It was Joe. "Joe? It's past 12am, what the hell are you doing here?" I said raising my eyebrow in wonder, why would this idiot risk getting in trouble for me?
"I wanted to spend time with you. You seemed like you needed your best friend with you." He smiled his iconic dorky smile. He got a ladder and climbed up to my room like a mad man.
"Joe, you're way to crazy." I chuckled, covering my mouth with my good hand. "Anything to spend time with you silly." He smirked
With only a few candles allowed us to not be in complete darkness, we played some board games the whole night. Joe wrote 'I am Stupid' on my cast which at first got me fired up, but I let it go, since it was only temporary.
We chilled on my bed. We used to have sleepovers like this before I moved, so it was really nice to be like this again. "Kelsey, I believe I said this a million times, but I'm so glad you're back here." He whispers soft. "Same, even though life isn't the same, being with you makes up for it." I smirked playfully pushing him away from me.
I closed my eyes and was finally about to fall asleep. Before I knew it. I heard a soft snore coming from Joe. He looked like he pasted out. "Good night lover boy." I whispered softly into his ear putting a cozy blanket on him, keeping him warm. Soon after I fell asleep as well.
