Chapter 13: A New Home

That night

Aaron's POV.

I was peacefully sleeping until I heard someone load a shotgun. My eyes quickly opened but still stayed put not knowing what was happening

"Get up and get your hands up in the air!!!" The guy yelled behind me. He sounded like an old man. I did what I was told and put my hands up in the air

"WHAT IS YOUR NAME?! AND WHY ARE YOU IN MY PROPERTY?!" the old man yelled

"It's Aaron, Aaron Burriss" I said

" Where are your parents?! Ugh! Kids these days are such troublemakers!" The old man said

"Sir. I'm so sorry I did not mean any of this. I just have no home to stay and I saw your garage open so I decided to stay here. I promise you I mean no harm" I said

"Why don't you have a home?" The old man asked

"I got kicked out sir" I said

"Why?" The old man asked

"Sir just put the gun down and we'll talk about this" I said

"I ASKED WHY!" the old man said

"Because I came in late. And he was drunk. He beat me up and called me names like he always does. I talked back and told him he was a bastard that's why mom left him. That was enough for him to kick me out. I am really sorry sir, It was raining that night, I was really cold and I didn't have any place to stay. I'm sorry. I can leave if you want" I said as he puts his shot gun down

"No it's fine...why don't we go and have tea inside?"  The old man asked kindly

"Thank you so much sir for understanding" I said as I enter his home

"Make yourself at home. I never really have anyone here so I think its fine if you stay here. So do you want to talk about it?" The old man asked

"Kinda. Well. My life kinda tore apart maybe 3 years ago" I said

"Why?" The old man asked

"There's this guy named Mark, he was such a rich guy, my dad was sick of Leukemia so I had to owe him 50k bucks. It wasn't easy for me and my brothers, we couldn't seek help from our mom because she has another family. I had to owe him the 50k. In exchange for that is our friendship, we became best friends, I promised him we would be friends forever but ever since his business started failing, he became such an abusive man. There was this once where he got caught by the police, I was there in the side, I had nothing to do with the crime it was all him. Once the police got him, he seeked out for me and screamed for my health. I was just in the side staring at him, frozen. I didn't know what to do, I couldn't help him, I couldn't go to jail. I couldn't leave my brothers behind. I said to him that I'm sorry. So years later, I met this girl, I fell in love with her. She was my entire world, she meant everything to me. And then Mark was out of prison and killed her. Ever since that, I was so scared to fall in love again. So I tried becoming bad, trying not to feel, trying to not care about anyone but just having fun, getting drunk all day and night, skipping school. I used to play with girls in my school, every single new girl, I would play. My dad knew about this and he was really disappointed by it. I was nothing at home, whenever I try to help, I fail. I'm never good enough, not in school, not even in my own family. This year,
I changed. This new girl....she changed me...it's like...she gave me hope...on love ya know what I mean. Now...I actually study believe it or not,. I actually care, I actually want to be good....for her. I want to change....for her. Crazy how one person can change who you are honestly. The past days have been rough at home until one night, I went home late because I went at my best friends house doing a project. My dad thought I was in another girl's house so he kicked me out, and called me a nothing, and a shame to the family. Hell he even beat me up.  He was drunk so he didn't know what he was doing. And that's how...I ended up here...." I said
