Callie's POV

After Stef dropped us off. I realized there was a strange car in our driveway. Our uncle never had visitors. I wonder who this could be. No one I knew that was for sure.

Once we got into the house we heard our uncle talking to someone. We couldn't make out the other man's voice he spoke too low. We heard our uncle's reply to an unspoken question. I told Jude to head upstairs and take a shower or something. I then walked into the small space we call a dining room. Which in all reality was just a table in the kitchen that we ate dinner and breakfast at.

I could see my uncle's face. The man he was talking to had his back towards me. I could only see the back of his head, but I could hear him clearer now. As soon as I heard what he said though I wish I never could hear him.

"Those are my kids. They are my blood. I want them back. They are going to live with me."

"They can't. I am their legal guardian. You can't just come in here fresh out of jail and expect me to just hand them over to you."

My uncle looked up and saw me in the doorway. He sighed. The person he had been talking to is my dad. My dad then turned around. His eyes wide and he looked happy. Happy may not be the right word, but maybe that's how he felt.

"Callie. Wow, you got so big and grown up."

"What are you guys talking about?"

"I wanted to come take you guys home. Your uncle here seems to think that I don't have the right to take my kids back."

"You don't. When you went to jail, when you chose to drink and then drive and kill mom, you gave up that right."

He just stared at me shocked. He must be realizing that he did give up that right. Or maybe he's too stubborn minded.

"No I didn't Callie. I still love you and Jude. I want to be able to take care of you both."

My uncle just shook his head. He put his head in his hands. At least my uncle stood up for us. That is why I love him.

"Where is Jude?"

"Upstairs. Dad you need to leave."

"What? Leave? Why?"

"Because we want you to leave. You can't get us back because you don't have to right to. Now please leave."

He said nothing. He looked over at my uncle then back at me. He stood up and walked himself right out the front door. We were not moving back with him, he probably didn't even have a place for us to live yet. He wasn't ruining my life or Jude's for that matter when it's so good now.
