Chapter 3: Story of my Life

***

Days, weeks and a month has passed since I saw him. I am just so happy that I have a friend once again, kahit one-sided lang. Maybe he may not consider me as one of his, but okay lang sa’kin. His mere presence made my heart flutter; it’s like it has been a long time since there was a person beside me giggling about random stuffs. We just clicked in an instant. Feeling mo kay tagal mo na siyang kilala, kasama, alam mo ‘yun?

Hayst. I’m starting to be random again. Anyways, in a matter of few days, school will start naman. Yaaaaay. I will be loaded with work again! Unlike here at home, aside sa invisible ako, laging maingay dito.

Why is that so? Yes, my parents still live together but they don’t sleep in one room na.  Since when Ate and I were little, they’re so aloof. And most of the times when we’re already sleeping, they’ll fight with the matching yelling and cussing against each other. Because of that, sometimes I cry myself to sleep and kept wondering why they are like that.

Until one day, I asked my tita who I call Mommy Anne why all of these happen. She said that my parents married because something happened between them out of wedlock. In Filipino, nagpakasal sila dahil nabuntis si Mama. They were high school sweethearts back then, but Mommy Anne said that nawala na lang bigla na pati siya na pinakamalapit kay Mama hindi niya alam. And then they were frequently arguing and fighting because of the large amount of debts Papa owes to various people. Nasilaw daw si Papa sa pera kaya di niya namalayan na nabaon na siya sa utang. Mommy Anne said that Papa wants the best of the best for us that’s why he did that though we have a small business—a daycare center that can fill our needs in our everyday life.

Pero ang masakit lang kasi is that they can’t see my worth. I worked so hard to achieve this high, to excel well in class to make them proud. Pero ni isang ‘I’m proud of you Joy’ wala akong narinig.
