Root beer and painkillers

Your POV

I woke up my eyes slowly fluttering open to see blinding lights. "nghhhhh....." I shut my eyes tightly and heard shouting. I opened my eyes even more slowly and my eyes adjusted to see doctors around me checking my vitals. I felt something warm around my right hand. I looked over to see Zendaya gripping my hand loosely, tears brimming in her eyes. " I'm so sorry," she whispered softly. " This is all my fault." with that last statement she started to cry letting tears run freely down her face. I found the remote for the hospital bed and used it to prop me up while shifting uncomfortably. "Hey, don't cry Ze-Ze. None of this is your fault, it was the STUPID RAIN!" I looked at the ceiling and shook my fist while yelling when one of the nurses came in looking panicked. " What happened!? What's wrong!? ARE YOU DYING?! " "Nope I'm just cursing god for creating rain." she looked at me like it was perfectly normal. " oh okay. let me know if you need anything." she gave me a cheery smile and then walked out of the room.

"Did you just call me Ze-Ze?" Zendaya looked over at me, a small smile on her face. I thought back and realize that I had. "Ummmm I don't know I mean- maybe I did, did I? I don't quite remember I ju-" She cut me off. "I like it, but only you can call me Ze-Ze." I was suddenly feeling warm. "Hey is there water in here?" She glanced around the room to see that there wasn't. "Here I'll go get you some, but what is your favorite soda?" " Oh root beer for sure! Why?" she gave a sly smirk, "oh no reason!" As soon as she said that she zipped out of the room and along the corridor.

Zendaya's POV

I ran out of the room and down the corridor to the vending machine at the end. I took out my wallet and got two root beers, One for Y/n and one for me. 'Ze-Ze, I like it.' I suddenly felt my face get slightly warm as I started walking back to Y/n's room. I felt a tap on my shoulder and I looked back and saw a girl take a picture and run. I sighed and walked into the room where Y/n looked over at me with her E/c eyes. I opened and then handed the root beer to her and opened mine. As I looked up I saw tears forming in her eyes. "Why are you doing this for me? I'm sure you have better and more glamorous things to do than spend time with a stranger in a hospital." I wiped her tears away and looked at her. "You aren't a stranger you're my friend and there is no place that I would rather be than right here hanging out with you. Besides you wouldn't have root beer without me!" With that, I raised up the root beer and took a sip letting the sweet bubbly liquid wash over my taste buds. 

I saw her turn her head away to look at the butterfly fluttering past the big window. She turned back to me with a sad look. "Did Bailey come by?" "No, not that I know of. I'll call her right now if you want." She gave me a soft smile as I picked up her phone. " Yeah. Please?" I opened up the phone with Y/n telling me her password and went into her phone. I clicked on Bailey's contact and held the phone up to my ear. the phone rang until I heard the click of someone answering.

Bailey:{Y/n? where were you and why were all of those police on the road to the piercing place?}

Me:{ I'm not Y/n sorry. This is her friend calling from the hospital. Y/n Got into a car crash on the way. She is in room 117. I think you should come an see her.}

Bailey:{Is she okay? Is she conscious?!} 

Me:{Yeah she is okay. She has a couple of broken ribs so she won't be twisting and jumping for the next 4 months.} 

Bailey:{Ill be there in five.} 

BLEEP BLOOP 

"Okay, she is on her way. How are you feeling Y/n?" "Im feeling okay but I know that after Im going to need someone to take care of me." I thought about it for a second and then I figured it out. "You could maybe if you want to stay with me." I looked away sheepishly "Yeah that sounds amazing! Do you really want me to stay with you?" I looked back at her as she stared intently. "Yeah of course. The real question is such house? " she looked so confused and I just busted out laughing. "Haha I'm just kidding obviously the closest one." Her features noticeably softened when she gave me a sweet smile and tried to shift her weight over to her side to look at me but winced in pain as soon as she put weight on her ribs. "NURSE WE NEED SOME PAINKILLERS IN HERE." The nurse ran in and grabbed a syringe. She filled it with a clear liquid and inserted it into Y/n's bloodstream. As the syringes contents were emptied  her face relaxed and she rolled into her back once again. "Is that better?" The nurse asked her with a lot of concern on her face. " Yeah, much better thanks. " Y/n have a sigh before relaxing into the pillow on the bed. 

Y/n's POV

After the nurse gave me the painkillers I sunk down into the pillows with a sigh. I slowly drifted off to sleep letting my whole body relax. I woke up and saw Bailey standing next to Zendaya. " Hey, how are you feeling? " Bailey moved my leg slightly and say down on the bed. "I'm in mild pain but okay I guess." She gave me a smile. "Good, you've been out for a while now." I looked at the clock and then saw that it was dark outside . "What day is it? "  I reached for my phone but it wasn't on the bedside table where I put it. Zendaya reached into her purse and pulled it out. "Here. Sorry, I forgot to give it back after you had me call Bailey. " " Its fine, thanks for calling her by the way. " I looked at the date on my phone and realised that the hospital was releasing me the day after. The nurse came in again and grabbed another pre -filled syringe and stick it into my IV tube connector. " Here these will help you sleep. " with that I drifted off into another dreamless night.
