51 days in the Downworld
The young Shane Dumort, who would soon turn twenty, should have been happy. He should have friends, go to parties and study for exams. But no, here he was, covered of an undying darkness in this dimension called the Downworld. He wasn't a child anymore, he was a warrior, a fighter. But also a slave, at the service of Cassius, a powerful sorcerer ruling over an immense empire in the Shadowed Plains. Shane, now known as the Reaper, had been walking for days, getting back from his latest mission, which consisted of getting major informations from a group of elves. They previously had spread false rumors about Cassius and his brother, but that was not a problem anymore... No, Shane took care of it. Better –or in that case, worse– than that, he enjoyed it. He enjoyed plunging his blade through the elf's heart, he enjoyed crushing their bones, watching them as life escaped their weak bodies... Since that happened, the champion hadn't stopped asking himself what was wrong with him. Although, something else occupied his mind, something even more mysterious: the glowing woman. The one who temporally healed him from his mental pain. He met her in the Endless Forest, but never knew who she was, or what she was, but she did mention a destiny, something he would accomplish. Another mystery to be solved, for the tortured man...
And so, he walked alone, through the Forest once again, ignoring the heavy, dark atmosphere, as he was himself much darker, much heavier because of that raging weight growing within his mind and soul. He walked alone for miles in the Shadowed Plains, reaching his Master's city after a long moment of silence; painful silence. That's how it was after each mission, really. Void. An empty mind, violated by this imposed new nature. He had been living this nightmare for about three months now, and already he had changed, drastically. In his veins, under his skin and in every each of his heartbeats, Shane could feel the evil spread through his body, making it its home... Meeting Cassius at the top of the Tower, as usual, Shane reported his mission with a cold, emotionless tone:
